The only “angel” from Castel Sant’Angelo I’ve ever seen was part of a set for the last act of Tosca.
But your photo was curiously familiar to me, so i just checked my curio shelf.
I have a single small statue of an angel bearing a cross that seems identical in style to the grand statue in your photo. It was part of a set of angels bearing the instruments of the Passion. Is that what the angels on this bridge are?
Yes, this photo is of one og the angels on the “Angel Bridge” who are bearing the instruments of the Passion. The bridge is immediately in front of Castel Sant’Angelo, where Act III of Tosca takes place. Exactly.
