Hey, Fr. Z., is that a Mac?
Whinder for an e-Bishopric!
And what is on the screen? Can you zoom in?
Inquiring minds want to know.
It’s the date of the release of the Motu Proprio. :-)
Actually, upon magnification, I see from the larger font in the title that it’s the Motu Proprio itself! However, the text font is too small to make out any of the details.
So please, Fr. Z, tell the Holy Father your through checking it for doctrinal and grammatical accuracy, and he can go ahead and release it. Like subito (meaning “immediately” next week, not “suddenly” some time in May).
And what is on the screen? Can you zoom in?
Why, Brian, they’re reading WDTPRS, of course. ;)
Look, I know suits were common especially in America even before Vatican II, but please…can’t all priests just wear cassocks?! :(
Wearing blacks isn’t good enough for you?
Then feel free to donate cassock money, or gift certificates to a certain famous Roman store. :)

What a great excuse to segue into the MP. Father Z, what is the latest from your spies?
Maybe its just my monitor – but is that a silk suit? When in Rome…

mmmm… Cassocks. :)
I got quite upset when I moved parishes and all the Servers wear albs. Eugh.
Garrett: Feel free to use the donation button on the left sidebar and I will start getting cassocks for all my priest friends who don\’t have their own… or who choose not to travel with them.

…Father, don’t you really mean the ones who choose not to have their cassocks become better-travelled than themselves as their suitcases are sent to Rome via Singapore? (or wherever!!)
Why don’t use the money spent to buy suits to buy cassocks?
As a woman, I’ve noticed that anything with a skirt attached is more expensive than anything comparable with pants. Of course, it’s possible that priests are spared this factor, but I’ve seen the price of kilts and I’m sure cassocks are worse.
Cassocks are nice, and show sensitivity to tradition. But a nice black suit with a Roman collar is also nice, and shows sensitivity to inculturation. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

Done! It’s not enough to buy one, but it is a start.

I come from Singapore and FINALLY! Someone has heard of this little island without pointing to a map of China!
