I have obtained my new copy of the Ordo for the Basilica of St. Peter for the use of canons and clergy.
FWIW… today is a ferial day in the Basilica. The clergy are free to choose their Mass.

Patriarchal? not pontifical or papal?

Does that mean that the divine office is regularly celebrated there? In the Church’s language? Please tell me that it is so.
I’m guessing that a Basilica can be Patriachal (adjectival form and different usage)
even if the Pope is no longer Patriarch of the West.
But if not of the whole West, is the Pope still a patriarch?
In the Vatican old titles die hard. The Congregation of the Doctrine of the
Faith is still located in the Piazza of the Holy Office.
The pope and all popes after him is indeed the Patriarch of the West, regardless
of whether they embrace the title and responsibility.

The term “patriarchal basilica” refers not to the Pope, but the Latin Patriarch of Constantinople (a position abolished in the 1960s).
The ordo probably went to press before the change of title was announced.

I believe the first commenter was referring to a move, separate from the dropping of the title “Patriarch of the West”, to relabel all five patriarchal basilicas as “papal”.

TJM: There is nothing especially oriented toward traditionalists in that Ordo, … other than the fact it is is the Ordo of the Basilica of St. Peter.

True, but technically (or at least historically), the Basilica of St. Peter was the honorific church of the Patriach of Constantinople, at least before the 1054 Schism, and so afterwards was, I believe, entrusted to someone with an honorific title to the same effect.
So, it’s a interesting question whether St. Peter’s, which historically is the patriachal basilica of the Patriarch of Constantinople, will retain the use of the word “patriarchal” even as the other 3 begin using the term “papal.”…
