In this column you examine the moves and ask questions of the USCCB.
How about What Does Summorum Pontificum Really Say?
Judging by some of the diocesan press releases I’ve seen, we could use something like that.
BTW, that was meant to be silly rather than sour.

1) A new column (whether additional or not) analyzing in depth each time a “study case” of a certain diocese/bishop/chancery (in the USA but not only) in implementing the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontifucum (Maybe two cases each time: a particularly virtuous and its negative counterpart…)
2) “What did the Pontiff really decree?” (WDTPRD)

You don’t need to change the title to broaden the scope of the blog.
Write about any Catholic related subject you like, but keep the title.
Keep it because… its a classic of the Catholic blogosphere.
Everybody knows it, the corresponding internet adress is a short,
quick-to-type adress. It is a respected, well known, established brand.
You know, Rorate (Caeli), The Movement (The New Liturgical
Movement), Sandro (Magister) at http://www.chiesa, Gerald, a.k.a.
Gerald at the Cafeteria (the Cafeteria is Closed), The Hermeneutic
(of Continuity, the blog), the deplorable Rocco (Palmo and his Whispers (in
the Loggia), Shouts in the Piazza, Zadok (the Roman), etc, and your WDTPRS, are all established
names. I still call Ratzinger
Fan Club Ratzinger Fan Club, instead of Against the Grain…
And I think no other blogger will be offended if I tell you that your
blog is especially great in the constellation of blogs. So names such
as WDTPRS, The Movement, Rorate, Cafeteria, can’t change. So please, keep
the current name.
What in the past was held as great, continues being great, and is great for us
also. And it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful. It behooves all of us to preserve the riches which have developed :)

Fr. Z, instead of pouncing on incorrect/lame english translations of the liturgy, you could shift the scope of your work to the papal documents. We need someone to make sure we get a better english version of the Motu Proprio, for example, than what the USCCB would like us to read.
The real beauty in this slightly shifted mission is that you wouldn’t have to change your website address at all. WDTPRS would now become “What Did The Pope Really Say?”
Alternatively, if you’d like to take on the mission of helping get the MP instituted in the more problematic dioceses, you could point out the errors or subterfuges of certain bishops, and then only change one letter of your website: WDTBRS would be “What Did That Bishop Really Say?”
Ok I’m all out of ideas. :-)
Keep the name. Many of the Catholic blogs I visit (yours is the first I visit at each day) frequently refer their readers to your site. “WDTPRS” seems to have become a brand name of sorts (so has “Fr. Z”, I think). But you should always feel free to write about anything that interests you, regardless of what the blog is titled. It’s the quality of your writing — and the thinking behind it — that brings me back again and again.
And I echo michigancatholic: No matter how good the translations are it’s always best to go back to the source and you’ve been great about helping many of us with that. Besides, as Janet said, there’s still papal documents, also the documents of Vatican II. Moreover, there are still other liturgical frontiers to explore: the remaining six sacraments; perhaps even the current translation of the Liturgy of the Hours. Your work may not yet be done.
Whatever you decide to do, please know that you have a faithful reader in the sad liturgical landscape that is the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Pray for us, and for our archbishop.

I enjoy the history lessons about the church. I have often thought that it would
be great to have a column devoted to the history of the Roman Church and the
liturgy throughout the centuries.
Whatever you change the name to (and I think WDTPRS is just fine) I wish you would bring back more of the patristics and in-depth analysis of the liturgy (not just tranlation but also explication; not just Tridentine but also Novus Ordo) that have made your writing and podcasts so valuable. Personally I would love to see far less mockery of the Troutmans and Sister Joan Chichesters and the like. They tend to be self-mocking, anyway.
Another thought: You could do a seperate blog or totally refocus this one and focus on the Extraordinary form. You could have posts and PODCAzT’s that are “how-tos” for priests and servers. What the prayers and postures mean. Proper attire. Where to obtain vestments, chalices etc. Suggestions. History of the Mass etc. I’m sure you can fit commentary on the Church Fathers in there somewhere. :-)
The Extraordinary form could use a kick to get it going by someone who knows it well.
Of course, the beauty of having your own blog means you can still incorporate whatever you like: cuisine, movie reviews, humor, photos, etc.
