PODCAzT 40: Eusebius of Vercelli in exile; my column in The Wanderer about detractors of Summorum Pontificum

In today’s PODCAzT you will hear excerpts of a tender letter (ep. 2) from an exiled St. Eusebius of Vercelli to his
flock. I have a rather longer selection of the Latin original this time. Also, I read my latest column for The Wanderer, wherein I hit detractors of Summorum Pontificum pretty hard.
039  St. Augustine on Christ the Mediator; “for all” or “for many”?
038  Ratzinger on “active participation”; The Sabine Farm; Merry del Val’s music
037  The position of the altar and the priest’s “back to the people”
036  St. Augustine on John the Baptist; Ut queant laxis

Great podcast Fr, and as always I love hearing you read Latin to us. Slowly I’m learning how to pronounce it, even if I don’t understand what is being said.

  5. Pleased as Punch says:

Dear Father Z, lovely post. But why pronounce Eusebius as “Eh-ooh-sebius” in English?
Why not simply say “Yooh-sebius,” much as we say “Yooh-phoria,” “Yoohphemism,” and
“Yooh-charist”? When speaking or reading aloud Greek and Latin, then one can say,
“Eh-ooh-sebius.” In this way the received English pronunciation is preserved, and
the diphthongs proper to Greek and Latin retain their proper place.

    Great podcast, Father Z.

You play some wonderful music on these podcasts. What is the title of the French song?
