“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

PLEASE subscribe via PayPal if it is useful. Zelle and Wise are better, but PayPal is convenient.
A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?
For a one time donation...
"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

The car or the airstrip?
Fr. Z, put it on wish list list. There might be a generous follower of yours that will make you happy this Christmas. (High caffeine video).
Simple, with another clean sweep of the Catholic Blog Awards. Since you got the Bugatti for 2008’s blog awards sweep, why not?
Can I ride shotgun, please, holy bat crap, what a ride, I promise to clean up my mess afterwards,
If you ride shotgun do you get a rosary to hold on to? Mind you, a powerful relic might be more advisable in this case!
Fr. James: both
Wow! handles well on the turns!
a supply of depends might also be appropriate, P.S. who volunteers to ride the segway?
Wow, that is absolutely amazing.
Still won’t get you through Roman traffic any faster. LOL.
I’d be happy just to have the driving skills if not the car.
Was it just me or would the “Nut Cracker” fit as background music to this?
Amazing what a human in control of a machine can do, truly artistic.
I’d take the car, but I’d like to drive like that more than anything else. That was awesome.
I wonder if I can get my Aveo suped-up to work like that?
Judging from the tire marks, it looks like they had to run it a few times before the final edit. Hopefully they only needed one Segway driver.
Or…. not?
A friend of mine had a 1974 Fleetwood Brougham Cady with a 8.2 liter eldorado engine. We could get it to do many of the things that car does. The engine was so heavy and it had no weight over the back wheels, it almost leaned forward.
The guy driving that car is strapped in with shoulder harnesses, we had taken the seats out so we drove around sitting on an upside down bucket. Much more fun. Ahhh the good old days.
Forget putting the car on your wishlist – drive it like that, and your loyal readers would have to club together to get a new set of tyres delivered every week!
If I read correctly, they tell you at the beginning that they went through four sets of tires to make that video.
Well, it is one means to make sure you are not late for Mass :-)
For that it would be “See the (flashing) Red on the Black.”
That’s so CUUUUUUULLLLLL. I want to learn how to drive like that!
With our famously bad traffic (a mix of the road system and the native drivers) around Boston, and the net decrease in active priests meaning more priests having to cover two parishes – this might be the solution to enable those priests to juggle Mass schedules!
we humbly thank thee, o lord, for thy laws of physics, and for applications thereto, source of such great amusement and freaking awesomeness, amen.
The Subaru Impreza WRX-STi is a really nice car, even without any performance enhancements. Truly feels like a rally car, and the price is not too bad, either. I’ve actually been thinking about getting one recently. Only problem is that the seats are a nice, ugly blue color.
Raw power – is wisely withheld from most of us.
Dang – I’ll never look at my Subaru the same again!
He’s good. This is one your your best “off topic” videos yet. As a former member of the NHRA and half owner of an 11 second car, I am impressed! I
