What time is the Sunday mass?
I was recently reading an article (here, elsewhere?) about how an entire Napa Valley vineyard was kept in business during prohibition. The vineyard shifted to making Sacramental Wine, and somehow, someway, two parishes managed to purchase their entire stock each year for “sacramental use.”
Hilaire Belloc would be proud. He married Elodie in St. John the Baptist long ago in Napa.
I visited a few years ago and found the old church gone and replace by a big round one. Inside, I witnessed some of the worste liturgical abuse I’ve ever seen in my life.
Father, I wondered if the following poll would be appropriate. Perhaps you might ask your priest readers -“All things being equal, if you had a choice, would you prefer to offer the ordinary or extraordinary form each Sunday?”
More and more curates are lucky enough to be in a parish with an EF Mass. But, perhaps it is the case that they must rotate with another priest for that Mass. The one week OF, one week EF can be a bit disorienting – especially depending how the OF is “organized” by the liturgical committee. Frankly, it is tempting to use the shorter prayer options to try to make the OF move along as quickly and end the hour of agony. This is a matter of the priestly spiritual life that I believe will have to be addressed. But, it would be interested to see what the sensus sacerdotum is among those priests who regularly offer both forms as myself.
We know Fr. Kristie! This is good news! Praise God.
Now only if we could have a Tridentine mass in Ukiah– I can’t drive to Napa every Sunday unfortunately.
Excellent! Although unfortunately bad timing for me–my parents are signing papers on the sale of their Napa residence on Monday, so I won’t be visiting Napa much anymore.
I’m really glad to hear that they have some singers now. The last time I went to the TLM at Holy Family was Corpus Christi a few years ago. There was no music, and it was frankly a little dismal for such an important feast. Fr. Mark is cool.
Sunday Mass is at Noon.
Does anybody have any pictures of the Church?
There is a very lovely on at a beautiful 1920s church in San Rafael, CA, too. Father has been through the ringer to preserve the Mass but his love shows through.
