I will be off to Eastbourne to meet His Hermeneuticalness himself, Fr. Finigan, as well as excellent PP of Chistlehurst, Fr. Briggs, and the lofty PP of St. Mary Magdalen in Brighton, Fr. Blake! I am not sure if there will be others, but it should be a pleasant day trip. I may overnight in Brighton at the parish if it get’s late and come back to town on the morrow.

On the way. After a brisk walk to Streatham Hill and a two minute wait I now am parked on the platform of beautiful Clapham Junction Station for Eastbourne.
Most train stations are the same aren’t they? The sounds and smells and characters call to mind my years of stressed commuting.

I was in Eastbourne 2 weeks ago for a conference. I’m from Louisiana and that was my first time in England. The beaches of Eastbourne are quite nice. I also enjoyed a trip to Beachy Head to see the cliffs. Very lovely.
Today I stood on some of the platforms of both former downtown train stations in Atlanta. The stations were both demolished in the early 1970s, but many of the platforms and the associated tracks are still there, under some parking decks.
