Technology is great when it works!
Phones have come a long way. And the same can then be used to say Compline in Latin. There’s an app for that.

“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

PLEASE subscribe via PayPal if it is useful. Zelle and Wise are better, but PayPal is convenient.
A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Prayer Before Using The Internet HERE
Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Red Sox, Father, really? When it’s clear the Phillies will be taking their title home to Philadelphia again in a few weeks?
I did the same thing, Father! I watched the Red Sox-Angels game to see who my Yankees will face once they’ve finished their Twinkie appetizers!
Well Father…I figured at some point I would have some great theological disagreement with you…
One question: when viewing on a small screen, are the Sox less disappointing?
GO Yanks!
Sorry…I’m a little tired and out of it…
Father, which saint is depicted in your traveling statuary? THANKS.
St. Peter as the statue near the Altar of the Confession in the Basilica of St. Peter.
Hey, St. Peter ‘the Rock’ and the Boston Red Sox! Cool!
But the Yankees are gonna win the World Series!
Thanks Jeffry. My doc is changing all of my medications around and it’s plain to see why they don’t want me to drive right now.
Technology is wonderful. It has allowed Fr Z to be a daily read and has served as some consolation that many people share similar perspectives as to the Faith and the liturgy.

Personally, I have two statues of St. Paul: one for the road, and one on our home altar.
My wife and I are “old fashioned” by almost any standard in that we still have flip phones and would do without them if we could get a “land line.” I agree that technology has come a long “ways” and that it does have many practical applications.
I’m curious: what’s the sound like on those iPhones?
The Red Sox? Say it ain’t so, Father.
I love listening to the Phillies on the radio. Not quite as special without Harry the K calling the games, but still one of life’s best simple pleasures.
Red Sox Father? I knew there was something saintly about you.
So, how did Torii Hunter’s dinger look like on the small screen?
My office mate was at the game last night and he said that homer was a monster shot. Oh yeah, and he has a case of laryngitis this morning.
As bad as it is to root for the Red Sox, I’m sure it’s only a venial sin.
Re: “My wife and I are “old fashioned” by almost any standard in that we still have flip phones….”
I’ve never owned a cellphone. Y’all are amateurs.
Sigh. An acquaintance of mine recently wrote a book about somebody who’d been totally out of circulation since 1995. She went to great lengths to show how hopelessly behind this person was, to the point that she couldn’t keep a job. Blah blah blah.
The problem was, all these “essential” 2009 things she had to learn were things that you really don’t need to do. (Also, this person had already had a cellphone and computer for several years back in 1995, which put her well ahead of most.) Granted, both she and her character live in a big city in California. and lots of her friends live in Silicon Valley. Even so, it was way, way exaggerated.
I’ll accept the amateur label. What I meant was that we (my wife and I) wouldn’t have a cell phone either save for the fact that we can’t get a land line.
The piece of technology that will still be around in three years’ time is the Pentel pencil in the foreground!
As much as I hate to admit it as a native Bostonian, I think the Yankees are going to win the World Series.
