St. Louis, MO: Traditional Roman Confirmations

A great brick by brick item from St. Louis Catholic:

Archbishop Carlson to Celebrate Confirmations in the Traditional Form

Great news– His Grace Archbishop Robert J. Carlson will celebrate the sacrament of confirmation in the classical rite of the Church at St. Francis de Sales Oratory on May 15, 2010, at 9:30.  After the confirmations, His Grace will assist at a Solemn High Mass celebrated by Monsignor R. Michael Schmitz, Vicar General and U.S. Provincial Superior of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest.

God bless Archbishop Carlson!  Please keep him in your prayers.

I’m very happy to read this. I think there was a fear that Archbishop Carlson would not be as receptive to traditional liturgical practices as Archbishop Burke. I’m glad to see that this is apparently not the case.

This makes me wish I was still in Saint Louis. de Sales is BEAUTIFUL and the best thing for such a church is a BEAUTIFUL liturgy. They seem to have gotten the message.

Bishop Murphy of the Diocese of Rockville Centre (NY) also celebrated Confirmation in the classical rite over the past year.

Not being familiar with the ritual, I am interested as to whether E.F. confirmations are ever conducted within mass.

Read the blog from this church, which is undergoing a complete restoration. The Institute of Christ the King’s sisters are going to make their first apostolate there soon.
