“…interlocking players…”.
You’ve hit the nail on the head, Father Z.
It’s high time to reorient the CHA by reforming the processes by which committees of the CHA operate, empanel members, etc. Surely the CHA has a mission statement which guides its operating committees, and surely any foundational document in a Catholic organization would necessarily exclude behaviour and support for activity contrary to the Faith. Either the current members, including the President (Keehan), are ignoring the CHA’s mission (which should harmonize completely with the mission of the Church), or the CHA’s guiding documents lack the force to ensure compliance with Catholic doctrine. Whatever the circumstance, its time the bishops clean house, push back, metaphorically lop off a few heads, etc.
So basically the fox’s cousin is saying there’s nothing to see in that particular chicken coop.
This is how the Spirit of Vatican 2 debacle got a good part of its institutional force. A minority of people networked like crazy and took normal people off guard. The dissident movement is a patchwork of shadow organizations and people wearing multiple hats. For instance, in Michigan, VOTF meetings are held at CTA meetings-they’re the same thing, same people, same place, same donuts. It’s the same people doing half the work, and counting it double. Many of those same people work for the Catholic Church as church employees or “lay ministers.” A large number also work for “music ministry” businesses or associations. Employees of the USCCB are also heavily involved.
@ScottW: Love the terminology!
