Praise God! After forty years of being in the dessert, a new day is dawning! I see it as well. During Holy Week I attended Holy Thursday services st a Parish ( in a liberal diocese) which celebrates the principal parts of the Novo Ordo Mass in Latin and ad orientem. The Priest washed the feet of 12 MEN!!! He encourages people to receive Holy Communion kneeling and on the tongue. The hymns were all chanted, most in Latin. Now you would suspect the parishioners to be elderly and the service poorly attended.Think again! The pews were filled with young people , young married couples with infants in tow. Many of the women wore chapel veils. I am not quite ready to be described as a senior citizen but I am getting close. I can not describe my joy of seeing young people kneeling to receive our Lord in Holy Communion. My daughter and my son who are in their early twenties also need to be counted amongst those seeking a deeper faith. They seek a Church which is authentic in Catholic teaching, one loyal to the magisterium and one which is rich in tradition. Yes the time has come , the Lord has heard our pleas. We are in the new spring time of the Church. Goodbye innovation, novelty and insanity! May you never rear your ugly head again! God Bless all our Priests and religious who remained loyal to Our Lord and his bride the Church! AMEN!
Voris is on the spot as usual.
I wish Michael could have offered some evidence or numbers to support his gushing remarks. From my limited vantage point in the Rogue Valley, Oregon, the new crop of young priests are just as liberal as their older mentors. At Easter Mass, the congregation sang “Lord of the Dance” during Communion, and “Shall We Gather at the River” for the recessional hymn. During his homily, the Philippino priest pointed to a cross and stated that “Jesus covers our sins with His love”. Shades of Luther?? Requests for a TLM have been shot down. Summorum Pontificum is simply dismissed. Mount Angel Seminary is probably to blame, to some degree, for these ill-formed priests. The war continues here.
It is time, please God, for the Marines who established the beachhead–the SSPX–to join up with the wider infantry.
I hope he’s right, I believe he is, I pray he is, but it’s taking SOOOOOO long. There are still so many (usually older) priests that do things wrong (there was a picture of my pastor washing the feet of men and women on Holy Thursday in the parish bulletin – which I emailed him about – still no answer). Where I used to teach junior high, the pastor said I was “conservative” in my Faith, the principal was anything but and I had to go. I worry about those in Catholic schools and how much they don’t know (let me tell ‘ya) and who the colleges and high schools invite to spread error and scandal. Things are changing but we have to worry about those caught in the ‘tween times.
These videos never fail to bring me to reflect on the differences between pelagianism or semi-pelagianism and synergism, I suppose that’s one good thing. Another good thing is his inference that at some future point in time he may longer consider himself widowed.
Waxing overly optimistic. There is now only one location for TLM in my diocese. If Mr. Voris perceives the trends truly, then the second location started here would not have failed for lack of support.
Stirring stuff. God willing he’s right, certainly his critique of liberal catholicism seems on par with Cardinal George’s, and thus as his, true. However I’d have liked a few numbers or citations to back up his claims.
Stirring, yes. I don’t know if I’d go along with his optimism, however. But it’s energizing and hopeful at least. I have the gut feeling that Mr. Voris himself has had his own eyes and heart recently opened by the Traditional Latin Mass and now can see the power and beauty. His assessment of the spread of the Holy Mass is definitely wrongly optimistic, unfortunately. But hey~ you gotta love those fighting words, whether or not they’re reality is the question I have. I pray I’m the one that’s overly pessimistic.
I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Voris – no, actually of having him stay at our home for 2 nights – and he is so much more in person – first on his list, aside from the conference, was to visit the good Carmelite nuns, and spend 2 hours speaking with them between the grate!!!
He is truly amazing, I pray more men will speak up as he is doing. I pray that he can continue to speak out and spread the Truth, and his doing so will encourage us all to be bold.
Voris is right on! We’ve been beaten down, but not beaten. Catholics who stand up for the Truth and Beauty of the Faith are coming out of the trenches with “bayonets fixed.” Obama has done us a huge favor in that he has forced Catholics to realize that there is no demilitarized zone in the battle now raging. Make no mistake, the Catholic Church is in the crosshairs of Obama’s scope. This is indeed a battle of the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death, and Catholics are conscripting in droves under the papal banner. Lord God of Hosts, lead us on!
I heard Michael recently and it was a very good talk on masculinity and the Church. Many of us have known what it has been like to have been ostracized and ridiculed just for being a faithful and devotional Catholic. I live where I can attend a good Novus Ordo parish and things are done right. I visited out of town today and any abuses are still glaring to me; I moved to get away from them and cannot tolerate them any more.
Yes, the old ‘liberals’ may howl. Others may not understand. And a number of the SSPXers are also going to howl for many–and I know some–have a gut hatred for anything post conciliar. Anything. They will not come along peacefully and have been preaching against the Church for years, all the while claiming THEY are the church. They are not. The rupture goes both ways. Those who do not come in will be in official schism and continue to splinter themselves like all protestor churches do.
There are Young Turks and if the SSPX news is true, we shall see a real counter-reformation-small case letters on purpose. However, while Catholic education remains mostly in the hands of the liberals, and as long as seminary training is still heavily based on psychology as religion instead of spiritual formation, and still accepting gays, we shall still have liberal priests in America.
Some areas are better than others. I think at this time, Great Britain has more Latin Masses than any other European country per population of Catholics. I still think the real Catholics will be a lean and mean group, not a huge, but a real Catholic group. Some areas of America have a long way to move away from liberalism-note the Midwestern states where conservatives are in a minority regarding the Liturgy.
Mr. Voris is great and popular in some parts of Europe as well. God bless his work as a prophet in our times.

I think Mr. Vorris is right that the revival of the Catholic Church is beginning.
We may not be seeing it yet in our own parishes and dioceses, and we may continue to lose ground locally in some places for a while, but some of you asked for evidence, so I will tell you some of what I see happening.
First, God is gathering faithful souls out of the Protestant denominations and bringing them into the Catholic Church. These are the people who are finally realizing that their denominations are embracing practices and teachings that are contrary to what is contained in Scripture – ordaining women and active homosexuals, and promoting gay “marriage” are a few things that come to mind. The most obvious group within this group of refugees are the Anglicans, but others are coming aboard as well. They will not tolerate the promotion of these doctrines inside the Catholic Church.
Second, the resurgence of the Tridentine Mass and traditional Catholic devotions. One may not have a Tridentine Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, or a FSSP seminary in his back yard yet, but these things are growing at a slow and steady pace.
Third, the establishment of colleges and universities that are focused on traditional Catholic teachings, beliefs, and practices. These schools were for the most part established as alternatives to the heterodox schools (Georgetown, Notre Dame, etc.). The Cardinal Newman Society maintains a list of these schools online (http://thenewmanguide.com/TableofContents/tabid/506/Default.aspx).
The revival of the Church will not happen instantly, and some of us will have more to suffer, but a tide of orthodoxy is rising. As Mr. Vorris pointed out, the heterodox among us will be (are) alarmed by this and will step up their efforts to stamp it out. Remember the words of St. Peter:
“Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls, your brethren who are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you and confirm you and establish you.” (1 Peter 5:8-10, DRV)
In the end, God and the True Church will win.
Ah yes, Voris is reporting from Takapuna Beach. Ive spent some lazy summer days there. *sigh* the memories.
I would say that Voris is somewhat optimistic at the imminent full-recovery a la Rangitoto Island eruption, but we are definately en route. I have noticed a distinct love of authentic orthodoxy with what I would call the Benedict Generation – love of tradition, kneeling during consecration (its hit or miss in my diocese *grumble*), teaching and reception of HC, interest in Latin, hunger for spiritual truths, ect. The groovy V2 generation with groovy smiley hymns and felt banners is not sticking. There is still much to be done but authentic Catholicism is on the rise. The future indeed belongs to the faithful!

Please forgive me, Father, I had to ask someone why you thought I was shouting as I had no idea that just because words were capitalized that meant one was shouting on the Internet. I wrote that particular poem in the late 90’s and for some reason just capitalized. I am sorry if anyone thought I was shouting.
A little late on this one…but this proves on the essentials Voris totally gets it and should be supported. Twenty years ago I could not see, I could not hope, things going as well as they are, just another proof that The Alimighty is in charge!!!!
