“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

I don’t like plugins that make the site mobile, so I go right to the bottom to change the view. The normal page view looks great on the iPad.
Not iPad, but the blog has caused my iPhone to crash repeatedly lately.
Yes. Most of the time recently I get a special tablet page design. To get the regular page design I have to scroll to the bottom of the page and click a button. But the change isn’t saved and I have to go through the same procedure agian the next time i come back to he website
Like the others, when using my iPad I am automagically served the mobile version. I dislike it. I always scroll down (down down) and change it.
What’s more, I an unable to post comments from that view. Of course that may be a feature and not a bug.
Glad to read this! I prefer the regular view too and hadn’t seen the button until this post. No other problems though.
The mobile version is fine on my iPad 2, with the exception that if I accidentally click “Preview” instead of “Post” when I comment, the comment disappears never to be seen again (there is no preview). Once in a while it will tell me the comment was unable to post, but actually it did go through. Overall, though, I like it. I’m generally not a fan of mobile themes, but this one makes the comments particularly easy to read through, and I’m an avid comment reader. Like others have said, though, the regular site works just fine on my iPad as well.
Some entries, when read on my iPad crash the browser. I always turn off the mobile view when it appears, which is seemingly random.
Yeah, about every two days the blog changes back to the mobile view, which I don’t particularly like. And also, it doesn’t allow for seeing that particularly nice banner you have, which to me is almost like the nihil obstat for wdtprs… Makes me think the site is a fake.
Images very rarely load for me on iPhone and iPad. I read a lot of blogs (with similar/same mobile themes), and this is the only problematic one. I’m not sure if it’s related to the current problem, but I thought I’d mention it.
I have had the same experience in getting the mobile version. I change it; sometimes it stays that way for a while, but in a short time it always reverts back to the mobile version. It’s irritating, but I just routinely switch it back every time; I like the regular view too.
Not sure when the supposed problem happened, but when I tried last Thursday, it seemed to work fine, as you saw. If you need someone to test some things, email me, we have an ipad.
The first display is a “mobile” or iPad format version, when I scroll down to the bottom of the page I can choose to switch the format.
Thanks mamajen–about the preview disappearing. I had not tried posting without previewing. Oooooo…I don’t know if I could even make myself do that. LOL!
The iPad format is horrid. It’s fine on iPhone but iPad should be in the regular format in my opinion.
Fortunately, for me, I have had no issues with either the iPad 3 or iPhone 4s. Thanks for asking!
Same as most, I don’t like the mobile theme on iPad. It just seems to randomly happen.
Certain posts seem to crash Safari (a number of them are on the top bar).
Sometimes it won’t let me post but that seems to be o.k. right now. . .
It’s the mobile app that won’t let me post – it stayed in desktop by itself this time.
Yes, it is the mobile app. You can’t post unless you scroll down and change the setting.
Thank you for asking.
Diversis enironment. Diversa species. Sed idem. Eadem fabula
I don’t have an iPad, but the button for YUPR in the “roman sunset list” hasn’t been working for some days. Sorry, back to your iPad problems!
I have the same difficulty with the mobile version. It’s truly awful and very hard to navigate. You can’t just scroll and read. Once I found the button at the bottom I just scroll down as soon as I go to the blog, turn off mobile and life is good again. It might annoy a first time reader though.
I’m finding the Frz app really really slow to the bring up the blog on iPhone 4s. I dont have this problem with other blogs.
Yes, the iPad theme is terrible. I always change it.
“Yes, the iPad theme is terrible. I always change it.”
+1
I always change it to the normal site, otherwise it eventually crashes Safari, depending on the post.
WDTPRS has been crashing both Safari and Chrome on my new, unadulterated iPad.
If I’m able to scroll to the bottom and toggle the “iPad” format button (and I can’t tell whether that’s turning it “on” or “off,” it won’t crash.
I switched off the iPad theme. I hope that helps.
I am looking into what might be creating problems for iPhone. It works with mine, so I am having a hard time figuring out what is going on.
Whew! Thank you, Fr. Z for changing that setting! I usually read your blog via Pulse Reader…But when I would go to the website, I thought it was something wrong w/my iPad, and would change view like other have mentioned. All better now!
I find myself having to dust off the ‘Shakespeare Insult Kit’ [http://www.pangloss.com/seidel/Shaker/] whenever the iPad format comes up, so I don’t violate the Second Commandment as I speed down to the bottom of the page to turn the tablet format off.
I can access your site quite easily however sometimes I have to go to the bottom of the page to change back to the original layout

That seems to have corrected the problem.
Thank you.
Well, I’m going to have to look out the window to see if there is a pig flying, b/c I agree with Fr. Jim4321. It looks a lot better now. Last week, the LCWR post shut down Safari every time I opened it. Thanks for the fix!
I have a Kindle Fire and most mornings when I first load the page I also got the mobile view. A reload would take me to the normal site, which was much preferable. +1 on the banner being the “nihil obstat”, the “trusted certificate” for the site. If I don’t see that, I reload.
Thank you! On the now-disabled theme no media would play, and it was not very functional (displaying only a very small snip of each post without graphics). Much better now.
Yes, switching off the iPad theme has worked, Father. Tonight I got the standard version, which I prefer, as do so many. No other problems on my iPad 2. Great site Father, thank you very much for it.

Oh I am sure we could find more than that to agree about! Beverages? Cigars? Anchovies on pizza?

On that we can agree.
