“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

PLEASE subscribe via PayPal if it is useful. Zelle and Wise are better, but PayPal is convenient.
A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Prayer Before Using The Internet HERE
Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Nice picture
I see Fr Glen Tattersall there in conversation, rector of the Latin Mass Group in Melbourne Australia.
Thanks for the coverage of the southern hemisphere, Fr. We are quite active here!
Father Z, how about swag skirts and swag mantillas? You are creative and could come up with something, I am sure.
Yes that is Fr. Peter Joseph a beautiful priest, specialist on St. Edmund Campion, and fiery homilist in conversation with Fr. Tattersall. Fr. Joseph says (probably) the most reverent NO Mass in the Sydney archdiocese – it’s the one the traddies attend on SUN eve if we miss the morning TLM at another parish. Fr. Joseph also has the TLM every Saturday morning. Both excellent, intelligent priests and faithful shepherds.

c’est magnifique ! What a great idea! I want to crochet/knit/sew some right away!
Greetings from Melbourne!
I am the guilty party proudly wearing my “Say The Black Do The Red” top.
His Hermineuticalness is here as keynote speaker at the annual conference of our Confraternity of Catholic Clergy. The photo was taken last Wednesday evening at a public lecture given by Fr.
Finnigan. Our Confraternity has been going for 26 years and I have been a lay associate member for 22 years. All the bishops and priests who are confraternity members are strident defenders of catholic teaching, loyalty to the Papacy, good liturgy, the TLM and all the other things that those of us who visit and comment on this blog love.
I must confess finding my photo on Fr.Z’s blog is the highlight of my year.Hopefully he may get to visit us in the not too distant future.
Blessings to all and especially Fr.Z
Ahhh this gives me hope!
I am an expat from Melbourne, nearly an American citizen. I always thought if we ever move back to Australia, our faith would be terribly challenged just because where we are now, we feel totally blessed to be part of an amazing parish and I never got that while in Australia. Could things be on the upswing? :) :)
Peter G: good onya. ;).
Jenelle: definitely on the upswing. I’m a Yank in Oz and your people do wonderful TLMs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brissie, Adelaide and Perth (so i hear), also Albury and Wangaratta. :) God bless!
Fr Peter Joseph, of Lebanese descent also celebrates the Maronite Rite Mass. He edited that wonderful former high school textbook “Apologetics and Catholic Doctrine” by Abp Michael Sheehan. I, an adult, found that textbook challenging. How well formed must have been the high school students of former generations.
G’day Peter G! Melbournian also. 5 degrees where I am at the moment. Have a great day. Montenegro, the Opus Dei priests at St Mary’s West Melbourne also say a very reverent Mass in the Ordinary Form.
Thanks Norah – good to know. I am in Sydney, though. :)
A swag was a bundle carried by itinerants in the Australian bush during the depressions of the 1890s and 1920/30s – ‘swagmen’.
However ‘The Swag’ is also the title of the journal of the other Australian clergy association – The National Council of Priests. Definitely not to be confused with the Australian Confraternity of Catholic Clergy …
There are other young NO priests who also serve Christ and His flock admirably in Sydney, not fearing to speak of the need to follow our Saviour, His laws, the reality of sin and satan, along with preparedness in our faith for harder times ahead. Priests such as this also make incredible confessors.
Do any Australian readers here know of good Maronite Rite services in the Shoal Haven district? (I am a convert to Maronite Catholicismj this past eighteen months, having been received into my local South West Sydney Maronite Parish in October 2011).
If this Fr. Joseph is the Fr. Joseph I think he is, I’ve participated in one of his Maronite masses only a few months ago…
Additionally, if I cannot make my normal Maronite mass, can readers suggest a good roman Rite mass close to the Lakembah area (as I cannot drive and rely upon my husband who does not go to mass , but very very supportive of my needs) to drive me; disability precludes my driving. Also; the church needs to be guide dog friendly.
I wish I could meet in person with some of the amazing Australian Catholic Christians who write here.
Blessings,
Aussie Maronite.
PS: if you want a good Catholic charity to support, why not choose http://www.xaviersocietyfortheblind.org who not only provided me with manual of Catholic prayer, Rosary prayers, the entire CCC in Braille (all fourteen volumes of it) but also have the TLM (Pius V edition) in Braille for any who wish it, free of charge.
For those who need assistance with computer access in large print, speech output or Braille support try ‘System Access’ from http://www.serotek.com who also do amazing work with US veterans who have acquired significant vision impairment in the line of duty.
