15 August, the Feast/Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Holy Day of Obligation on the Latin Church’s universal calendar and in calendars of particular countries (cf. can. 1246). It isn’t transferred.
So, I remind the readership that you are obliged to hear Mass on Thursday, 15 August.
Make a plan.
As a matter of fact, if you are able, make a plan to fulfill your obligation by participating at Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form!
Also, please remember that there is a special blessing of herbs in the traditional Rituale Romanum. Remind Father to bless the herbs you bring before Mass begins.
I invite you to post below opportunities for the Usus Antiquior in your area. (Please don’t send them by email to me to post for you – register and post them yourselves!)

I have never heard about blessing herbs at August 15, neither in Germany nor in France, although I have been brought up in the traditional Roman rite in a rural country.
Being at the same time interested in plants and in rites, could you please give some explanations to your foreign readers about the rite you are mentioning ? We had traditionnally herbs conveying special powers – especially healing powers – collected at St John’s Day (24 June) ; and on the day of St Michael Archangel (29 September), or the next following Sunday, we presented near the Altar the very best of our sheaves, bread made of them, and a specimen of all the vegetables from the gardens to be blessed by the Priest (Germany). In France, it was usual to present one specimen – the most beautiful one – of all vegetables grown in gardens on St Fiacre’s Day (30 August, or the following Sunday) during a Mass and a procession. St Fiacre is the patron saint of the gardeners in France and some parts of Germany.
Thank you very much in advance.

A good time to purchase a fresh batch of whatever dried herbs you put into your chicken soup. Surely the prayers of the soup maker in addition to the blessed herbs would bring additional healing properties to those ailing in the coming winter.
Mass, consecration to the BVM, procession of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction. 7 p.m. St. Luke’s, Calgary.
Sorry, should have noted St. Luke’s will be a Novus Ordo. I realize it doesn’t measure up to some folk’s expectations, but it’s better than staying home and ignoring the special day.

So far as I can tell, the only TLM in Los Angeles is at the Church of Our Lady of the Angels (SSPX) in Arcadia. Beautiful Mass, and faithful Catholic sermons. Our archbishop seems to be busy with immigration and other political matters.

St. Anthony’s in Calgary has an OF Mass at 9:00 am followed by benediction, as well as an EF Mass (FSSP) at 7:00 pm followed by Benediction. I suspect it will be a low Mass, but I could be wrong.
A German in France: Flowers & medicinal herbs are blessed after the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Dormition. According to tradition, after Mary’s assumption, her tomb was filled with a heavenly fragrance & flowers. The herbs, used as natural medicine, are blessed in commemoration of the numerous healing & extraordinary graces bestowed on pilgrims at Mary’s tomb.
The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom will be celebrated on the Feast of the Dormition of Our Most Holy Lady the Mother of God & Ever Virgin Mary at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Holy Protection Byzantine Catholic Church in Morgantown, WV.
Troparion:
In giving birth you preserved your virginity,
In falling asleep you did not forsake the world, O Theotokos.
You were translated to life, O Mother of Life,
And by your prayers, you deliver our souls from death.
Kontakion:
Neither the tomb, nor death could hold the Theotokos,
Who is constant in prayer and our firm hope in her intercessions.
For being the Mother of Life,
She was translated to life by the One who dwelt in her virginal womb.
We will make the extra trip to our TLM parish. It’s like Christmas in August – we have St Max on 14 and Assumption on 15!

So excited! This is our first opportunity for this. We travel 90+ miles RT each Sunday to attend this beautiful church, where it is done properly. The best 90 minutes drive RT for 90 minutes of Heaven on earth. Love the EF Mass!
Is that Arabic on the bottom of that icon? Ah I see holding the cursor over the image that it is a Coptic icon. I keep several icons of the Eastern Church in my house, including what I believe is a Russian (the writing is some altered form of the Greek alphabet) icon of the Dormition. Two years ago when I was in Jerusalem I stumbled into a Liturgy of the Armenian Orthodox Church in the Cave of the Dormition on Mount Zion. So beautiful. East is the direction that our ecumenical efforts should be headed. It would do so much to revive our own Liturgy. All of us need to do something to clean up the 1500 years of baggage that lie between us since Chalcedon.
A different variety of the usus antiquior, but the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom will be celebrated for the Dormition of the Theotokos in the Kansas City area on Thursday, August 15 at 7:30pm at St. Luke Byzantine Catholic Church. The Eastern Church also retains the ancient tradition of blessing flowers and spices on this feast.

Traditional High Latin Mass 5:30 p.m.
Our Lady of Fatima, Pequannock, NJ (FSSP). 7, 8, 12, & 7 – Sung High Mass.

There will also be TLM’s at the St. Benedict Center and St. Ann’s house in Still River MA but I don’t have the times for those.
There will also be masses for the St. Gregory Latin Mass Chaplaincy in Maine. I know the one in Lewiston (Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul) is at 6:30 PM and will be a Missa Cantata. I believe the one in Portland (Cathedral) is in the morning but I’m not sure.
Also regarding St. Benedict Center Richmond NH, slightly OT, but they are dedicating their new chapel the following Thursday, Aug. 22 the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary with a Solemn High Mass at 9:30 AM. The new chapel doubles the space of their old basement chapel which is bursting at the seams due to the number of young traditional families with many children that attend there.
Akron, OH – St Sebastian Church, 5:15 pm.
Adding to Athelstan’s above list of Washington, D.C. area TLMs — 7:30 p.m. Low Mass at Saint Mary’s in Washington, D.C.

Daniel,
Yes, I knew he was made Regional Superior. He mentioned it once or twice during announcements before he left. It was a sad day when he made the announcement, but Fr. Sumich (he was in Australia for awhile) is pretty good too. Very different temperaments…
