I am off to the States (Central Penna.) from my home here in Ireland for a 2-week visit with my parents, ages 88 & 87, my 6 brothers and sisters, and my…43 (!) neices & nephews! I’ve been away for 4 years now.
I’ve asked the nieces and nephews to wear name tags.
My parents belong to the Latin Mass Community in Harrisburg (my 88 year old father sings in the choir) so I’ll finally have a chance to attend TLM.
I’d be grateful if someone might say a few prayers for our safe travel.
By the way, I’m hoping to arrange for a general confession while I’m in the States. Does anyone have a good guide for an examination of conscience in preparation for a general confession?

I have under five thousand words to write as an undergraduate student (B.theol at your typical bog-standard ‘Catholic University’ in Australia – two philosophy units – one on Bioethics and one on enlightenment. Ten years of hard work is complete at last; Thence begins two years of honours!! I am finding this rather surreal as undergrad study as a mature age student has been a part of my life for a decade now. Please pray that all goes well and I continue to obtain good grades – at this stage I’ll be happy with passes. I’m currently working my way through an assessment on Rousseau…one thousand words down, two hundred to go and due in just under a week…
As an aside, I will be writing my three honours theses on Liturgy – hoping to focus upon the Maronite liturgy, EF liturgy and AO liturgy with their advantages/accessibility or otherwise to persons with vision impairment, persons with Autism for the two minor papers and my major thesis will cover sacred music focusing upon the late 19th/early 20th century English ‘liturgical’ composers – Dark, Sullivan, Parry, Howell, Vaughan Williams, plus mid 20th century – Taverner and Britton and one contemporary, John Rutter. I have a deep love and affection for the sacred music and mass settings of these composers. but that’s enough of that…
Oh, one point I’d like to share with Super Trad Mum, your own observations on bioethics a few weeks back – these bear out 100% in contemporary bog-standard Catholic University bioethics classes.

Your good news is my good news! This is the Church… this is the body of Christ at the cellular level. If I was a film maker, I’d send out five film crews and do 20 minute vignettes on each of you and give the world a true portrait of the Faith being lived humbly.
I have two pieces of good news! My first is that I may possibly be pregnant. We’re all really excited and hopeful, especially since we’ve been trying for so long. Prayers would be appreciated.
My second is that my novel CLARA has been published both on Amazon and Smashwords. It’s not getting a whole lot of attention but a few people have bought it, which is enough for me. As long as I’m using my gift for God’s glory!

Our son Carson age 11 was confirmed by our Archbishop last week along with 25 or so of his fellow homeschoolers. Viva Cristo Rey!
I had a very good rehearsal last night with my college schola – five young men who love chant and, like the others I have trained before them, will keep this beautiful liturgical tradition alive. I guess I am very blessed by God to be in such a position.
The Chaplain at the Diocesan High School where 3 of my kiddos attend has learned and begun offering the EF Mass at the school. A group of students there are also preparing to fully enroll in The Dominican Angelic Warfare Confraternity. Please pray for them!
I was offered a job I desperately needed having just lost a contract. I wasn’t offered it because I’m brilliant, but I firmly believe because the rosary that I prayed every day was faithfully answered.
Also, Fr, be assured of my daily prayers for your own intentions and needs, known onto God as they are.

After five and a half years of formation, thanks be to God, I’ve been called to the Order of Deacon. I’ll be ordained 11/16/13. Thanks for the prayers!
On Sunday our pastor celebrated his 20th anniversary of ordination. We had a beautiful Mass and celebration to mark the occasion. :)
While travelling in Mexico, my wife ended up in the hospital last Saturday evening. She is now completely recovered. I took her to emergency, with great difficulty walking, speaking and breathing; I was very, very worried, thinking that something had happened with her low blood pressure. As it turns out, these were the results of hyperventilation, resulting from shock; she had seen an accident and the symptoms of the shock came out little by little. The good news is that she was well taken care of and is now in very good health!
I was offered a temp job out of nowhere, so somebody must be praying for me!
Also, my grandmother who survived an aneurysm is doing very well with physical therapy to help her get over the bedrest and other effects afterwards. We hope that she can be out of the nursing home by the end of this month, so that’s good; but please keep praying for her.
After several days of difficult U-haul truck packing, in the rain, leaving eight hour late and driving in the dark, arriving at our overnight stay before driving to our new home, my wife and I are safely in Tripp, SD, population @ 650. Strangers wave at us. Last evening my new neighbor across the road used her Case frontloader to pull horseshoe stakes out of the ground. And on and on. We have left the utopia of Minnesota, and landed in America! Arriba Christo Rey!
A priest at my parish will be offering a Requiem Mass on All Souls’ Day and my choir will be singing. We have been rehearsing for a couple of weeks now. I feel so blessed!
My 9 yo son will be serving Low Mass for the first time for our home school group’s First Friday devotion. Please pray for him as he has never met the priest or been inside this particular church. And we RARELY get the privilege of attending Low Mass. I can tell he is a little nervous, though he has been well prepared for awhile now. Cor Jesu sacratissimum, miserére nobis!
