I wonder what would happen if I, as a man, went to a fertility clinic and demanded that they provide IVF services to me, a man. It’s a matter of equality, and as a man, I am as entitled, that is, I have the right, as any person has, male or female, to get pregnant. Am I right?
what women would want to go into a Barber shop? It’s a MAN’s domain, I went in last week and we talked sport, made friendly jokes based on our nationalities (2 Italians and two Englishmen) and fooled around whilst they were given me a short back & Sides and a number 3.
The ONLY women that should be permitted in a barber’s shop is the mother of the minor whose dad isn’t available to take him.
Canada is so far down the multi-culti path that this will be very interesting. Twice, I think, Ontario has nearly ratified the use of Sharia law in the courts, specifically in cases involving Muslim women and claims of spousal abuse.
Somebody should send this video to Gov. Jan Brewer (R) of AZ.
If the Muslim Barber Shop was in AZ, I wonder if they would be forced to cut the Lesbian’s hair?
I would give her a haircut she would never forget.
It wasn’t because she was a lesbian, it was because she was a woman.
And I, as a woman, support the right of the barbershop to serve only men.
I wonder if they serve gay men…?
@magpie, we are already there. Men seeing gynecologists. OB-GYN boards have relaxed standards, allowing them to see men now. Google it.
I wonder if American lesbians will target Muslim barbers the way gays target Christian business owners. I’m thinking no. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in Canada. I wonder if my LGBT-cheerleader friends on FB will weigh in on this. I’m thinking they’ll be as mysteriously silent as they’ve been about their politics, since things started going pear-shaped for Obama last fall.
I don’t think this will get far. Canada bends over backwards to accommodate Muslims and their religious beliefs
I can’t help but wonder why she can’t get her hair cut at a salon. They do men’s cuts too. We have barbers here who cut women’s hair, but I would never go to one.
I agree with Gretchen!
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!
APX, I’m told salons are more expensive. There are a ton of men’s barbers that will cut women’s hair at men’s prices, though. She chose a Muslim because she’s a bully. Listen to her say, “I felt like a ‘second class citizen’.” It is a transparent lie.
I’m of the opinion that she has a right to have her hair cut by a Muslim, so long as she agrees that they have a right to stone her to death for her transgression afterward.
Gretchen and NBW,
I don’t know how many readers here are familiar with Skrillex, but I think his haircut would suffice. If not Google him, his hair is most humorous, though terrible.
Nick
If I were her attorney i’d argue that ‘hey, the barber pole outside is an umbi li cal cord so it has to serve women.
(thats why i’m not an attorney)
The more we give in, the more they demand. It’s too late. Our Catholic politicians have compromised on everything and they will continue to compromise. We who are faithful are labeled the extreme. Viva Cristo Rey!
@Magpie: Monty Python’s “Life of Brian” covered that ground already: http://youtu.be/sFBOQzSk14c?t=36s
“Second class citizen”, really? I would not be surprised if this was intentional.
My husband sometimes uses a phrase, “touchier than a lesbian,” and I think this woman might be the lesbian he’s talking about.
I used to get my hair cut in a barber shop — the barber I used to take my son to when he was little offered he would cut my hair too and it was half the price of woman’s hair place. He was trained in both so why not?
That said, SO WHAT??? She “felt bad.” She “felt like a second class citizen” because a MUSLIM MAN told her he couldn’t cut her hair because of his religion… and we’re supposed to think HE is the one with the problem? Sorry, babe. Be a grownup and go to another barber. Oh, and stop trying to attack people you don’t like. Pretending to be a victim doesn’t say much for you.
That happened in 2012 and was resolved in Feb. 2013, but no one knows how because mediation resolutions are secret:

Story is old. This happened in 2012.
The barber and the woman reached a confidential settlement a year ago.

Good for them. Their faith tells them they cannot cut a woman’s hair, and that should be that. I see a day when people of all faiths start challenging these stupid laws … and may it arrive soon.
A lesbian walked into a Muslim barbershop. There are those that would say she was mighty lucky to walk out again.
She felt like a second class citizen? Really?
@Majuscule, I think gay men prefer salons so moot point.
@Nick:
I think the Skrillex haircut would suffice. But would she complain they only did one side?
Hell hath no fury like a woman shorn?
It’s not even that she lesbian, they consider their business a men’s business. It seems to be no different than a gentleman’s club. (I mean for actual GENTLEmen, not a strip club or whatnot.)

OK now. You want to FORCE someone with a straight…..razor……to give you a cut he does not want to give you. Let’s think about that for a minute: Why would you want to do that?
