I know no Italian, if a fellow reader would be so kind as to help.

    Also, Father,

I love the new picture at the top of the page.

In some ways it seems like a long time ago but I remember it like yesterday.

I wish him a long life and many happy years of service in the Petrine Ministry.

He certainly is quite a gift to the church!

Yes a Whole year and the Pain of our Dear Benedict XVI no longer being Pope just does not go away!
We Pray that Pope Francis continues to lead the Church and clean up the mess that is inside the Church…..

Benedict Resigning….just doesn’t seem right, as he is so LOVED and MISSED…But Its God’s will be done not our own!

    @Nicholas Shaler
Below the mention of the station of the day, San Lorenzo in Panisperna, and the saints of the day, SS. Sabinus, Christina, and Leander of Seville, come the key words: “First anniversary of the election of His Holiness Francis”, and “Vacation” (for Vatican employees, natch).

HighMass, it takes several generations to sort out the effect of a pope on the church. That being the case it seems fairly silly to do too much hand wringing or end zone celebrating over any particular pope. It will all be sorted out over time and none of us will be around.

Also, priest friends from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in California remind me that the Three Days of Darkness in Anaheim (or Cardinal Mahony’s Cavalcade of Dissent and Heresy) is starting. Fr Robert Barron is going to be the keynote speaker. It’s quite a change from the days when Archbishop Rembert G. Weakland, O.S.B. used to be the keynote speaker.

May our Lord grant our holy and ecumenical Pontiff Francis, the Pope of Rome, many years!

    Trespinos,

    Thanks

What a year! I like your new banner. It’s nice to see your face Father. You bring some sanity into my life, and for this I thank you. :-)

  11. Eugene says:

    My daily prayer:
That God protect and guide Pope Francis so that he may clearly and strongly defend the faith and it’s teachings and it’s liturgical tradition.
That God continue to give health to our Emeritus Pope Benedict and consolation.

“It takes several generations to sort out the effect of a pope on the church. That being the case it seems fairly silly to do too much hand wringing or end zone celebrating over any particular pope. It will all be sorted out over time and none of us will be around.”

In which case, it would follow logically that we can’t have the slightest idea – and won’t have for ages yet to come – whether Pope Francis really is ‘quite a gift to the [C]hurch’ – or not.
