Biden: We need ‘constant, unrelenting stream’ of immigrants
Vice President Biden painted a rosy picture of the outlook for U.S. businesses Tuesday, but said economic growth hinges in large part on immigration reform, now languishing in Congress.
“We need it badly from a purely – purely economic point of view,” Biden said during remarks to the National Association of Manufacturers.
The call came amid a wide-ranging address to the business group, in which Biden said the United States is better positioned than its rivals to compete in the global marketplace.
“We have the most resilient economy in the world,” Biden told hundreds of people gathered at the business group’s annual conference. “We’re better positioned than any country in the world to lead the world in the 21st Century.”
Biden said a key to the country’s solid economic footing is the “the ‘constant, unrelenting stream’ of immigrants that has come to the United States for generations.
“Not dribbling,” Biden explained. “Significant flows.”

I don’t think he means legal immigrants. It’s pretty hard to migrate legally and the Obama administration doesn’t seem to be making it any easier.
I think he means illegal immigrants who will feel indebted to a particular political party.

Has the VP looked at Southern Europe to see what open ended immigration has done?

Maybe he figures that if enough people immigrate, the ones currently doing all America’s jobs in India and China etc will move to the States and do those jobs here.
How about upholding marriage as God intended and eliminating abortion? With more children, there would be less of a need to rely on immigrants.
Sure, those 90,000 unaccompanied children at the border receiving “family planning services” are going to be a big boost to the economy…
Large-scale immigration, whether legal or illegal, is an injustice against the native people. I can say that certainly for me as an Irish person, witnessing the destruction of Irish culture and social life and work, and the story is even worse for Britain, though Ireland will get there too, given a little time. Muslim hordes is one major problem, but so too the constant stream of people from Europe who take Irish jobs. Ireland has a major native youth unemployment problem. It might be hard for non-Irish or non-British to understand this, but we used to be countries to ourselves. They were opened up without the consent of the people to widespread immigration.
He also said, probably in this context, that the United States were the only economic power friendly to immigrants, other than (specifically mentioned) Germany and all the rest. Was somewhat all over the news around here.
There could, of course, a lot be said about the thing.
(Is it fair to home-borns if, in addition to all the usual competition, they are directed to compete against yet another large group of well-qualified immigrants? is competition and maximization everything, or is there a room for striving to a decent work life rewarded by no great headline-worthy successes but only “everydayish” comfort [I am talking on the natural side and hence not speaking about religious sacrifice]? On the other hand, is it fair to other nations to invite their best-qualified workers to leave? And what about little-qualifed people, does he mean them too? And does a highly industrialized nation really need a large growth of little-qualified workers, or will it only drive their own little-qualified compatriots into a race to the lowest wages and into unemployment?
I’m only alluding to give questions and not really start a commentary, though. Difficult questions.)
Once those children(who Obama is using taxpayer money to take care of –and hiring lawyers for ) are given citizenship they will be able to bring many of their family in also. Everyday Americans who still have an income will have their taxes raised along with their healthcare costs thanks to Obamacare–especially what will be left of the middle class. We have a lot of unemployed Americans right now. They need jobs instead of living off of the government/taxpayers and extended unemployment insurance.
The news media in Central and South America is saying that Obama will not send them back.
It’s an invasion invited by our president and his administration. Without a permanent underclass, Democrats aren’t guaranteed a lock on elections. The American people are sick of them, and they know it. They are feeling the pressure to get what they want now, because in November 2014 and in 2016, Republicans will be back in office. Eric Cantor is the canary in the coal mine for Democrats, but the signs have been there. There is likely to be a mad dash for all kinds of insane things now, as desperation in the White House increases. I am noting very liberal liberals (Dick Blumenthal for one) talking against what happened with Bowe Bergdahl, what Obama did. Impeachment is unlikely, but not impossible, especially when these election tea leaves get read by politicians. Obama is a nightmare, but for Democrats too. People are mobilized to stop them from completely ruining our country. There are still enablers and glassy-eyed drones, but many more people sound really motivated to reclaim our country from these…I don’t know what to call them. I can’t call them anything polite.
Between now and then it is going to get worse however. We are still in trouble here. Our White House has put out the red carpet. They don’t care about young children or teens making that terrible trek across Mexico through drug cartels. God help them and us.

The Obama Administration does not care about a thriving, surviving culture or a robust economy. They got elected and re-elected without those things.
But empty words are good enough for Democrats when the Republicans have nothing better to offer.
Both Parties should attend to what Catholicism has to say about social justice.
These scoundrels in the White House will literally condone breaking the law, and break the law themselves, to consolidate all power to themselves as if they were on some kind of Darth Vader power crusade.
Sadly this is not much different than many U.S. bishops are calling for.
Speaking of which, what’s the deal there? Yeah, I know the CCC says to welcome the stranger, etc. It also says a few things about the rights of workers, the rule of law, the common good, etc., all of which suddenly are ignored when it comes to current mass immigration policy in the teeth of a 40% labor force non-participation rate. If anything the Church’s teachings + prudential evaluation of the situation demands an immediate zero-immigration policy and vigorous deportation of illegals. I cannot believe for a moment that they are ignorant of that.
So what is the end game here? Do they really believe all that stuff is subordinate to “welcome the stranger”? Are they really content to impoverish the entire country just to fill up the pews for a single generation with Mexican Catholics (until American modernity sinks its claws into their children)? Are they stupid, or do they just think we are?
Why aren’t Catholic bishops condemning these negligent parents who let their children wander through the desert by themselves to cross a border illegally?
Do our bishops not care about the souls of these parents who are now most assuredly hell-bound because of their hatred of their own children, whom Christ teaches us to love?
Perhaps this could be one of those teaching, “pastoral” moments.
Like David Brat, who defeated Cantor, said, this wave of illegals will depress American wages. The present flood of unaccompanied children will cause enormous expense.
One student in Washington D.C. Public schools costs at present $20,000 per year. For foreign ESL students the cost is about 50% more. Once they graduate from 12th grade the illegal aliens will qualify for Affirmative Action admissions to universities. The result is that American Black youths will have to hand over their affirmative action benefits to the Hondurans and Guatemalans from this latest batch.
I worry only about my own children and grandchildren, and with Obama and Hillary Clinton their prospects are not looking good.
I will vote in November, and you can too.
Call it what it is, cheap labor. That is the ONLY reason they want more here. They can keep jobs here, instead of China, because they are cheap labor. It is exploitation. It is disgusting. If that man never says another word it will be too soon. I hate what our Bishops are endorsing because they will be used as cheap labor.
I would lay part of the blame on the current border crisis on the actions of my own Cardinal Sean O’Malley. He traveled from Boston to the border with Mexico to celebrate a Mass to push his immigration reform platform. In a Washington Post story, O’Malley was quoted as saying, “I’m told we have the votes, so we have hopes,’’ said O’Malley, who didn’t mention either Boehner or Obama by name. “But we’ve had hopes before.” His actions, along with those of liberal Catholic activitists, may have inspired the rush to the border by children has become a grave humanitarian crisis.
I agree with Pope Francis when he said airport bishops should stay home in their own dioceses and not travel so much. Luckily for Cardinal O’Malley, there are reports some of these poor children will be shipped to Massachusetts — where they will have access to family planning services and be treated “sensitively” regarding their orientation.

Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.
From the first time I read that, it seemed about as rational and balanced as any such statement could be. Contrary to statements from some of our bishops, it acknowledges the reality of, and need for, borders and enforcement. It also nicely stipulates that those accepted as immigrants have responsibilities to their new country.
All of that, at odds with our politicians, and sadly, with many of our bishops.
And it’s not really about cheap labor. We have a glut of undereducated unemployables of our own, and importing them makes no sense. However, they will be voters, and given their very limited education, will likely vote for whoever they perceive gives them sustenance. And that’s the real bottom line for the Democrats. They see the possibility of a permanent lock on elections.
I don’t understand why there is never an outcry about how the Mexican people treat immigrants in their country. They rape and steal from the poor immigrants that come into their country Honduras and Guatemala, and yet the US treats the Mexican immigrants unfairly?
The problem I have with all of this is that the immigrants are sacrificing their children so they could get into the country. The parents are putting their own lives in front of their children’s, which is so wrong.
There are laws against illegal immigration. Then the VP is calling, even encouraging foreigners who want to come in the US to trespass the law?
And regarding those who want to come legally he says: “Why to burden yourself with fastidious procedures and forms filling, while anxiously wondering if your demand will be accepted? Come illegally, that’s so much easier !!!”
22 years as an INS agent here. We saw this coming 40 plus years ago but like many other unpleasant things, absolutely no one wanted to know about it. “None so blind as those who will not see…”

It seems so clear to me that it is absolutely wrong to be encouraging people to break these laws. And even more wrong to support politicians who encourage the breaking of these laws.
I swear these guys take more seriously the smallest minutiae of any environmental regulation more seriously than our duly enacted actual immigration laws.
