URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

In your goodness, will you stop and, right now, say a prayer for a cleric who is going through some ecclesiastical … there’s no other way to put this… persecution of the liberal sort.

It’s as nasty as I have ever heard about and it is not unrelated to present trends and events.

Here is a suggestion for a prayer:

PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

The Devil is on the rampage right now, and it is only beginning.

We all need to get out the spiritual armor, polish it up, and buckle it on.

A while back I wrote about getting onto a war-footing.  I think the days are drawing nearer if they haven’t arrived already.

I have in my mind the story of Nehemiah.  Artaxerxes the Persian gave permission to Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.  Jerusalem was surrounded by enemies. While the workman labored on the walls they had swords girded on.

I’m buckling up. I reviewed today a list I made for myself a while back of a few things I resolved to do, or to do better.  Spiritual warfare, both defense and offence, has to begin with me.

Something is up, dear readers. We have to get our heads into a mental place where we can endure bad news and bad deeds. I suggest doing some networking.  I often recommend that you do some basic, at least, preparation in the face of storms or disasters for the sake of yourselves and your loved ones.  This applies also to spiritual prep.

I think it was Card. Burke who, not to long ago, recommended prayers for the Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus.  HERE

I have prayed and will continue to pray. These are certainly dark times, and not just for clerics. Anyone who holds to the true faith is under attack right now. But we know the battle is already won!

  3. seashoreknits says:

    Prayers offered, dear Fr. Z.

  4. juergensen says:

Mercy for adulterers and sodomites, but not for faithful clerics. Pray for Cardinals Pell and Muller.

  5. Mike says:

Prayers ascending! And let’s not fail to unite our prayers to the Mass, which, when unfettered by protestant and pagan claptrap and vested in humility, enrages and defeats Satan and his minions. No prayer in creation is more powerful than those in which the priest, in the person of Christ, presents our oblations on the altar of the Holy Sacrifice.

Have prayed and will continue to pray.

  9. Prayers Said, Father. Will continue to do so.

This civil war (for lack of a better term) which seems to be breaking out within the Church has been a long time coming. It is the logical end of the de-facto bifurcation within her that developed over the 20th century, and was cast-in-place by the “Spirit of VaticanII” faction. The Synod fiasco was the beginning of what might be called the open conflict (for lack of a better term). By all appearances the die is cast, and now is the time for those who are deepest involved (ex. Card Burke) when each must cast his lot with one side or the other. Soon – very soon I think – that time will come for all of us. May God help us.

We have been praying for a certain priest that is under attack and will continue prayers for him and all faithful courageous priests. Keep us posted, please.

  11. St Donatus says:

Saying a prayer for this and all clerics that are currently being persecuted. I say a prayer for all the priests I know daily, I wish I could do more.

What does it mean, persecution of the liberal sort? Examples?

  16. marthawrites says:

Recently while sorting through a drawer of holy cards and saved articles I found two cards with prayers to the Holy Face. Immediately they went into my Magnificat and I say them before Mass each day. I shall also write a personal note to Cardinal Burke encouraging him to keep practicing the virtue of courage. I’ve also re- memorized the prayer once said at the foot of the altar after all Masses, for the exaltation and liberation of Holy Mother the Church.

  17. Pastor Bonus says:

  26. frahobbit says:

To thee, O Blessed Joseph, we come in our trials and having asked the help of your most Holy Spouse, we confidently ask your patronage also, Through that sacred bond of charity which united you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the fatherly love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you to look graciously upon the beloved inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased by his blood, and to aid us in our necessities with your power and strength. O most provident guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ. Most beloved father, dispel the evil of falsehood and sin. Our most mighty protector, graciously assist us from heaven in our struggle with the powers of darkness. And just as you once saved the Child Jesus from mortal danger, so now defend God’s Holy Church from the snares of her enemies and from all adversity. Shield each one of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your help, we may be able to live a virtuous life, to die a holy death, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven. Amen. Apostolate of St Joseph Prince of the Church.

  37. Dick Verbo says:

    Amen

  38. Joseph-Mary says:

I suspect this is the very holy priest in a southern state who was just put on sabbatical. I am listening this minute to his homily from the weekend where he speaks about the necessity of carrying the cross of persecution and what a grace it is. Saints are often persecuted, even from within the Church. Holy Founders are deposed, holy Cardinals are demoted, holy priests are left without an assignment. The priest who just was put on sabbatical loved the TLM. That is almost a ‘crime’ in the modern Church in many places. Never mind that he spoke the truth with love and built holy congregations. I know another priest in my diocese also who loved the TLM and was the best preacher and teacher in town and who also has no assignment at present. It seems the true teachings of Christ are not popular nor those who wish to embrace all the teachings and traditions of the Church.

  39. RJHighland says:

I said a mystery of the rosary for a wonderful priest, the same one as Joseph-Mary, going through what sounds like the very same thing so I will add your intention to the family rosary this evening. May the Lord guide and protect these Holy Cardinals, bishops and priests that are being persecuted and marginalized by the authorities in the Church that they love so much, it truly is a shame. I often hear liberals refer to traditionalists as Pharisees, it sure seems like it is the other way around to me. The lavander glove of the hierarchy sure seems like steel gauntlet when it is used on those that love the traditional faith.

  40. Bosco says:

Speaking of ‘war footing’, Father Z., I am reminded of Daniel 12:10-12

“Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.
From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.
How blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1,335 days!”

Daniel prophesied of the sacrifice abolished. Pray God that does not come to pass.

  41. Bea says:

    St. Michael prayer ….. done.

Am praying a daily rosary for Card. Burke, related prelates, yourself, Fr. Z and other certain priests.
Even (under your suggestions) for those weak and seemingness hopeless prelates.

We have our own little skirmishes as laity even with a prelate, even oh well……
I never envisioned this in my growing years and to think P.F. is my age and must have grown with the same solid Faith during the reign of P. Pius XII

  47. LarryW2LJ says:

Praying not only for the faithful and the persecuted, but also for those who have gone wonky and are doing their best to behave like lemmings. That they will come to their senses and rejoin the sheepfold, before it’s too late. This is the time of Mercy!

  48. Filumene says:

I have a friend who was just diagnosed with a brain tumor. She has 5 children, and a 6th on it’s way. This is a very special family, parents striving to be saintly and raise more saints for the glory of God and His Church. Pray for them, please!
