“No priest in Italy who has not suffered with this racket.” Tell me about it!
You really need to hold out until that ending. The crash cymbal really adds to it…
I believe the Italian musical term for how this is to be performed is Andante Feci, unlike Haugen’s music which should be performed Adagio Formaggio.
Never heard it before. What utter rubbish! The melody is made to sound serious (beginning in a minor key) and deeply felt, but it’s over simplified and banal. Add an electrical organ of the worst kind, a shrill voice with no resonance, some people singing out of tune … It angers me that there actually are people who like this garbage.
Wow. That was really something.
Apparently the US did not monopolize bad 1970s hymnody.
You hate Vatican II! (hah!) Seriously, though, I wish I could say that’s the worst “church music” I’ve ever heard.
Nice use of “epicene”!

Dear Vexilla Regis, I know there are problems in you parish, but at least not this problem.
Our Bridgettine sisters love singing this during Communion in our parish. ’77, indeed!
