  1. “The Few. The Proud. The Marines.” My dad and two of my brothers were Marines as well as my dearly departed SD. Prayers for all those brave men that have gone before us, and prayers for all those Marines still with us.

The wife and I were in the Marines in 1962-1966. we’re on our way to a high school Vet’s celebration right now. Oldest daughter was a Marine and our second oldest son IS a Marine (CWO4) who will retire next April with 26 years of service.

SEMPER FI, TO ALL MARINES. “OOH RAH!!!!!”

Thanks Fr. Z and Happy 241st to all.

This evening we’re hoisting a pint to Chesty Puller. There are photos of this great general online- what a mug! He was once at a demonstration of a new flamethrower and he asked: “Where do you put the bayonet? (!) He died a major general but was given a “tombstone promotion” to lieutenant general.

  6. robtbrown says:

Fr Anderson, Abbot of Clear Creek, is an ex-Marine. Also Fr James Jackson FSSP.

  7. Brian C. 0311 says:

Ooh-rah, Semper Fi. Special prayers for those (and their familie) who never made it back Dillon, Ssgt. Best, and Wloka. May you rest in peace, and may Perpetal Light shine upon you. St. Michael, Patron of Marines, pray for us and St. MArtin, Patron of Infantry, pray for us.

  8. Semper Gumby says:

    Brian C 0311: Semper Fidelis.

robtbrown: That’s interesting. I hear a Catholic village is growing around Clear Creek. Impressive abbot. Fr. Jackson FSSP, that sounds like the author of Nothing Superfluous.

  9. Brian C. 0311 says:

    Ooh-Rah

  10. My Marine is 5’3 & 112 pounds. She is a Lance Corporal and is about to become Corporal. Her nickname is “Little One” in the Corps and they call her “Small but Mighty.” She blows away her male counterparts at the range and has earned their respect. [I am instantly reminded of the line in A Midsummer Night’s Dearm: “And though she be but little, she is fierce.”]

She also is in the chef training program and IS well known for her CUSTOM omelettes. She loves feeding her brother and sister Marines and stays at her post instead of coming home on Thanksgiving to feed those who haven’t gotten permission to go home. (Food is the most important thing to a devil dog).

She grew up under Benedict and Father Z’s posts and podcasts. She loves her Catholic Faith and (ahem) was a Latin Honor Student in High School where she won the Latin award at graduation. Please pray for her as she goes to college at night while getting up everyday at 0330 to run the bake shop and help with breakfast. Her Gunny is seeing to it that she is being groomed for OCS… as soon as possible. She has decided to be a lifer in the Corp.
By the way, her Twitter acct is @CatholicMarine. Couldn’t be more proud to celebrate the Marines Birthday again this year. .. ooRAH! +JMJ+
