This is my rosary. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rosary is my best friend. Its prayer is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
Without prayer, my rosary is useless. Without praying my rosary, I am useless. I must pray my rosary true. I must pray earnestly to defeat my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must expel him even as he tempts me. I will…
My rosary and I know that what counts in war is not the words from our mouth, the pain in our knees, nor the length of our prayer. We know that it is the prayer from the heart that counts. We will pray…
My rosary is a warrior, even as I, because it is an extension of myself. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its beads, and its medals. I will keep my rosary clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will…
Before God, I swear this creed. My rosary and I are defenders of my soul. We are the masters of our enemy. And Christ is the Savior of my life.
So be it, until victory is Christ’s and there is no enemy, but peace!
It appears for the discount code to work all ten must be the same color and type. I tried a combination of bronze, gunmetal, and silver but the discount code would not work that way. I would have preferred an assortment to give as gifts.
that said, these are still the absolute best and most durable metal rosaries. I’ve carried one daily for several years now. I tried some “combat” style rosaries from another vendor (basically knock-offs of the original), but those other ones were flimsy and terrible. So stick with Fr. Heilman’s!
I bought a bronze-tone Combat Rosary in November 2015 and have grown to love it, but I was initially very disappointed with my purchase. The color was not at all as depicted on the website, some of the large beads are not evenly spaced on the pull chain (poor QC, I guess), and the leather pouch sold specifically for the rosary and combat prayer book happened to not exactly fit both those items without extreme difficulty (and now broken zippers). I posted a review to that effect which was never published on the site. That being said, apart from the evident lack of QC, the rosary itself is awesome. I hated the color at first (again, nothing like pictured online), but the finish is wearing away through daily use and it looks much better now.
I did a quick search of similar rosaries and found one offered by CordBands, called the 1916 WW1 Battle Beads. It’s virtually identical to the Combat Rosary, but is only offered in silver finish. One major improvement I see is the replacement of jump rings by split bands–the jump rings are far and away the weakest part of the Combat Rosary. The price is cheaper as well (although they’re about equal once you start adding medals), and it appears to come with a more useful pouch. I might order one to compare with the Combat Rosary. CordBands also offers a military discount, though I’m not sure how much it is (guess I’ll find out if I do end up ordering another rosary).
So Father, if I buy a combat Rosary, how do I get you to bless it? Track you down at Mass?
[That would work!]
While our jump rings are very strong, we will be moving to the split bands with future inventory.
Also, future Combat books will be slightly smaller to fit.
@Mercyknight,
That’s great to hear!
Rugged Rosaries sell these for around $30.

I ordered my Combat Rosary through my parish bookstore. I really like it. I like how smooth it feels and how I can wrap the beads around my fingers when praying. It’s longer in length than I’m used to but I adapted to it. Two of the beads are defective but it adds to its uniqueness.
Recently, one of the jump rings on the Miraculous Medal caught a thread in my pant pocket, causing the ring to twist open and detach the Saint Benedict medal from the rosary. It’s been difficult to completely close the ring again. I agree that the split bands are a better choice. (I do have a parishioner whose Combat Rosary actually broke.)
My bookstore received a new shipment of Combat Rosaries and I noticed they are now shorter in length. Also, the quality of the Saint Benedict medal has changed. It’s thinner, not as thick and as well made as the one on my rosary.
I see some other commenters suggesting Cordbands Battle-beads rosaries, but I wanted to mention I bought two some time ago and did not find the quality anywhere as good as the Combat Rosary — they’re flimsier and I already broke one despite using it only a few times. I sent them a note and they said they’d improve, but FWIW I think you’re better of sticking with the original article. I’ve carried my silver-tone original Combat Rosary (Fr. Heilman version) in my pocket for several years now and it looks as good as new.
Fair enough. I don’t own one their battle bead rosaries. So your info is good to know. I have, however, purchased several of their parachute cord rosaries and think they are the best rosaries I have ever used. – Pax and RLTW!
