An important topic revisited: Moral Injury

I had the occasion to repair some links in older posts about the topic of “moral injury”.  It is an important topic.  I’m glad the reader let me know.

There will be some repetition, but I wanted to get them into one place.

I ran into a few others which are important.

If there are links that don’t work in important posts, let me know.  Otherwise, a quick fix could be to make a substitution in the url address by changing the domain to

Father Z, on this topic, thank you for ascribing a name to something very hard to define outside injustice.
Outside the church moral injury presented itself to many with the covid shots. Ive lost two jobs because moral injury was a factor, not just due to the jabs. Sometimes I hear things such as “X being forced to…” but its never true, no one is forced to do anything. We do things for money, really, if we were honest, most of the time, or fear of losing money and security. We can refuse. Yes there will be consequences, but moral injury and the accompanying cognitive dissonance, resentment, and feeling of helplessness are all deeply hatmful to the person experiencing it. To do or not do in the sight of God is far worse or should be. Sometimes I read about Catholic hospitals “forced” to do abortions. No. You can refuse. Let it close. We dont do evil.
It is often probably healthier to take the financial hit. At least you’re free and yes that is a great consolation.
