Here is a really interesting video. Newt Gingrich goes off on some liberals about tax-payer funded abortion and liberal bias on Meet The Press.
I would still have liked to see him mop the floor with the incumbent.

- Prosper of Aquitaine (+c.455), De gratia Dei et libero arbitrio contra Collatorem 22.61

“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Prayer Before Using The Internet HERE
Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
I don’t see the video . . . .
Hasn’t the Catholic church understood that abortion is a must in our capitalist system?
Women have to be in the work force in order to provide cheaper labor and therefore they must not be mothers.
Is that so difficult to understand?
The idea of eliminating abortion and contraception from our economic system is simply silly.
If the church wants to eliminate abortion and contraception she has to demolish all the legislation that has allowed the families to be destroyed.
That means convincing everyone that being is more important than having.
If the church doesn’t do that then we have to take her as a fraud.
[Wow.]
Fr. Z., the video is not being displayed – at least in my browser. Perhaps that is why only two comments thus far.
This is a link to it.

He left most of them speechless.
Thanks JKnott.
Newt rocks.
I’m in agreement with, Newt. The lame stream media is so far away from the folks it is astounding!! Don’t watch the media much but this whole segment made me sad, except for Newt!
Thanks for the link JKnnott
I watched it. The people that vote Democrat this election are in a very dark place
The talking heads on this program (newt excluded, I hope) are the Devil`s play things.
“Hasn’t the Catholic church understood that abortion is a must in our capitalist system?
Women have to be in the work force in order to provide cheaper labor and therefore they must not be mothers.”
So, whatever we had through the 1950s wasn’t capitalism? And when feminists convinced women they weren’t as good as men unless they got jobs, it was because the feminists were visionaries who foresaw that there would be no iPods without increasing the cheap labor pool?
Don’t get me wrong, there are families out there where the mothers and fathers both work because they don’t want to go without the extra income that provides, but most of the time you hear of such people putting their kids in daycare. There’s a lot more to the sexual revolution that brought in abortion among other evils than just economics, even if economics can aggravate the problems there.
Even assuming there’s an economic problem among the main causes of abortion and not merely the occassion for it, which element of capitalism is to blame and what’s the full solution? Is it the free market that’s the trouble? If so is the alternative having things in common? Or is it the notion of corporations, or investment? Is the solution that everyone is better off a little poorer but owning what they make rather than making stuff for some corporation that owns it? (G.K. Chesterton thought something along the lines of this last point, by the way!) If capitalism really is to blame, we’ve got to have a precise understanding of what’s wrong with it so we can develop a solution. If on the other hand you simply were using “capitalism” as a stand-in for “greed”, then of course everyone needs to be less greedy and a number of problems caused by that would all but vanish; but then, everyone also needs to communicate more clearly so as to get rid of all the confusion in these debates, no?
JLCG said: “Women have to be in the work force in order to provide cheaper labor and therefore they must not be mothers.”
So, it’s your theory that the millions of women who worked outside the home prior to the 1930s never had any children?
I missed the part where Gingrich eviscerates anyone, I just heard more of his usual bloviation.
I think MTP could have found a more credible mouthpiece for the repubicans than a guy who was the most dramatic failure in the RNC primaries.
And MTP is more than 4 minutes 28 seconds long. The other participants had their say as well.
Taxpayer-funded abortion is shameful, and the one-sided bias against Akin needs to be pointed out.
You can see the other panel members’ looks of shame as he points out the obvious horrors of 8-9 month term abortions and even infanticide of children already born. No one with a conscience can defend it.

Why the Church is against socialism, which changed the definition of the individual, the family, the state and eventually, Who is God….JLCG, you are correct in your assessment except you have got the wrong label for the economic system which pushes abortion and contraception. It is socialism. That comment is right out of Gramsci. You are either a Liberation Theology follower or a member of the Gramsci, Noam Chomsky, Saul Alinksy school. And, if you are a Catholic, you are in trouble spiritually. You cannot contradict the last 150 years of Church teaching regarding socialism and communism.
The problem is not capitalism per se. It is the setting up of government without God-establishing governments outside of natural law. That is the socialist and communist agenda.

Sissy, your statistics are incorrect, unless you are referring to communist nations. In Catholic nations, up until WWII, the vast majority of women stayed at home. If they were in the fields as peasants, they were with their husbands and children. Most peasant women worked at home as seamstresses, wet nurses, carrying for animals, etc. Most positions of work for immigrants, such as the Irish in England, did not include child-bearing. For example, if you were a maid or nanny, you left the position when you got married. All those positions were for singles and temporary as such. In Catholic, free, non-communist countries, women who had children took care of their children. Remember, the universities were not even open to women for degrees in Italy until the 1880s and until the 1920s in England. one could go, but not be given a degree. My grandmother studied Law at St. Louis University in 1919, and she was one of the first ever to pursue such. She left to get married. My other grandmother got a business degree in 1908 in the States, and her class was one of the first with ladies. She ran a business from home with six kids. (and she and her husband built it, by the way, not the president, or the government).
Women working in the public sphere is a socialist-communist goal to break-up the family and control the family hours and child-bearing. Under those regimes, women are slaves to the state.
By the way, Newt is awesome here and correct.
Don’t you live Tom Friedman in one breath saying he’s a planned parenthood democrat, and in the next saying he’s here as a journalist and must be objective. Wow!

I am obliged for your learned critique of my contribution.
I have never learned from those people you mention so I will gladly being informed on which of their works my position is presented. I want page, edition and title of the work. I do not accept a vague interpretation by you. The point is that capitalism and abortion go together.
China is an excellent example of how wealth has been accumulated by eliminating reproduction.
[China. That renowned bastion of free markets.]
Frjim4321, I saw the whole episode. I will say that Newt was at his strongest here, and no one was able to rebut him. Third trimester abortions are unpalatable to almost everyone.
The vast middle of the country never wants to have an abortion and most do not want their family members to have abortions. The vast middle tolerates abortions for rape/incest/life of mother. The middle is willing to tolerate having abortion as a choice pre-viability, although most would never choose this.
The vast majority does NOT want to allow abortion of viable fetuses, except in the rare care of life of the mother. From a purely political matter, why the Democratic party platform does not adopt where the country is baffles me.

Mr. Gingrich’s words reminds me of the dire straits the Philippines is in. Our country’s reproductive health bill is nearly passed. Despite our population growth rate being less than 2.1% (it’s 1.8%), the government feels the need to make contraception and abortion available to those who ask for it. Currently, the bill is in the amendments phase in the Senate. Once it moves to the votation, we are doomed. 14 of our 24 senators are pro-RH, and our president is inclined towards signing the bill into law.
Ironically it seems that education and work are natural contraceptives – well-educated couples tend to have less children, perhaps due to either one or both pursuing their chosen professions in life. A little prayer against the RH Bill could be in order here… sad to say our bishops lack the spine to excommunicate the pro-RH congressmen.
