IRAQ: Watching with horror, prayers, concern.

First, I am convinced that what is going on in Iraq is going to have dangerous consequences for us here in these USA and for Western Europe.  Prepare your minds and gird yourselves.

Pres. Obama flippantly called these heavily-armed and successfully murdering savages the “JV team”.  JV TEAM?

I have followed quite a few stories about the horrific actions of ISIS or whatever its called this week.  Islamic terrorists killing people.   Pewsitter has been a good source for links about the plight of Christians.  I also give props to Rorate for a few important items.

Tonight a priest friend sent this, which I hadn’t seen elsewhere:

Anglican Vicar of Baghdad: ‘Child I baptized cut in half by ISIS’

[Anglican Communion News Service] The five-year-old son of a founding member of Baghdad’s Anglican church was cut in half during an attack by the Islamic State on the Christian town of Qaraqosh.
In an interview Aug. 8, an emotional Canon Andrew White told ACNS that he christened the boy several years ago, and that the child’s parents had named the lad Andrew after him.
“I’m almost in tears because I’ve just had somebody in my room whose little child was cut in half,” he said. “I baptized his child in my church in Baghdad. This little boy, they named him after me – he was called Andrew.”
The fact that Andrew’s brother was named George after St George’s Anglican Church in Iraq’s capital demonstrates the strong ties the family had to the church there. The boy’s father had been a founder member of the church back in 1998 when the Canon had first come to Baghdad. White added, “This man, before he retired north to join his family was the caretaker of the Anglican church.”
Baghdad is part of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, which is included in the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, a member church of the Anglican Communion.
Though the move north should have proved safer for the Iraqi Christian family, the Islamic State made sure that it became a place of terror. “This town of Qaraqosh is a Christian village so they knew everybody there was part of their target group,” said White. “They [the Islamic State] attacked the whole of the town. They bombed it, they shot at people.
The Islamic State group captured Qaraqosh overnight Aug. 6/7 after the withdrawal of Kurdish forces.

The world is getting crazy dangerous, folks.  I don’t know about you, but we are going to see terrible things here, in the aftermath of what is happening there.

Pray for these poor people.

Meanwhile… more from the Religion of Peace HERE:

ISIS Sets Up Sex Slave Market to Sell Hundreds of Christian Women

[…]

Witnesses reported that, of the 500 Christian women abducted from Mosul alone, the ones who were deemed attractive were taken to ISIS princes to be their personal sex slaves.

Shoebat.com translated a statement from Red Crescent spokesman Mohammad Khuzai:

“Elements of ISIS kidnapped women from the Yezidis and Christian as Sabaya (war booty slaves), and subjected them to be sold.”

Sts. Nunilo and Alodia, pray for us.

    This is horrifying.
How can these people even think that a loving god would want any of these actions. They are sick.

  2. majuscule says:

Their god is not a loving god.

  3. pannw says:

The Pope called for ‘action’. What does that mean?

  4. Our PP gave a top sermon this morning on Edith Stein, her life, times and death. He warned us that Satan is now using the Muslims to try to wipe out the Jews, and he said pretty much what you’re saying – prepare yourselves, because it’s not going to stay in the Middle East.

  5. VexillaRegis says:

We should launch a crusade. Now.

  6. Kerry says:

Is it licit to pray for fire and destruction to be rained down on these murdering Saracens? Low passes with A-10’s, Hellfires and Jdams, co-axial machine guns and 20 mike mike?

  7. JonPatrick says:

Well we now have a few air strikes, most likely more to show we are doing something than to actually defeat ISIS who will just hunker down knowing we have a short attention span and that the air strikes will go away once the news cycle moves onto something else than refugees stuck on a mountaintop. If only we had real leadership in Washington that could work with the other countries in the Middle East that are threatened by ISIS such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and to support forces capable of fighting ISIS such as the Kurds, instead we won’t even let them sell us oil which would go along way to help them defend themselves and the Christians and other groups under threat by ISIS.

Years ago I read an interpretation of scripture that connected a Muslim takeover of the East, a homosexual takeover of the West, and the two riders of the Pale Horse of the Apocalypse: Death and Hades (Rev. 6:7-8). I ran this by an orthodox Catholic priest (whose name I will withhold) who taught scripture at a seminary, and he was certainly open to this. I wonder if today he is more convinced? I am.

  9. iepuras says:

This has been a topic of conversation in our home. The history of my husband’s country since the rise of Islam and the fall of Constantinople is one of fighting off the Muslim invasion. Just yesterday, my husband told me of a prince of his country, Constantin Brancoveaunu, who was deposed and taken to Constantinople with most of his sons by the Ottomans. He was tortured and told to convert. His sons were executed in front of him for refusing to convert. He was also beheaded. He is now a saint in the Orthodox Church.

In America, we too easily forget that history did not start in 1776. Muslims have been killing Christians and Jews for centuries. Unfortunately this horror is nothing new. Alas, those who are capable of fighting this threat, refuse to do so.

Oh, this Roman Catholic lives in a house full of Byzantines. It is still Constantinople in our house.

  10. HobokenZephyr says:

At some point doesn’t this require the legitimate use of deadly force to kill these people? Shall we continue to allow these actions to occur?

  11. Kerry says:

    Hmm, Psalm 58…?

  12. Mike says:

These folks need to be vaporized by a JDAM. God have mercy.

  13. Brooklyn says:

Obama is definitely not up to doing anything about this situation, and I doubt that he really cares anyway. However, he is not to bear all the blame by himself. St. John Paul II warned George Bush not to go to war in Iraq. JP II actually sent a Cardinal with a personal message to GWB imploring him not to go to war and warning of three consequences: First, it would cause many deaths and injuries on both sides. Secondly, it would result in civil war. And, thirdly, the United States might know how to get into a war, but it would have great difficulty getting out of one.

One consequence even the Holy Father did not envision was the genocide of Christians. What JPII saw up close and personal in WWII is now being duplicated in Iraq and elsewhere.

There can never be anything good that comes from war. To intentionally start a war, as GWB did, was the height of foolishness, and one which the entire word is now paying the price. It is only being compounded by the fact that our current President is incompetent and uncaring.

And yes, I do believe this is coming to the West. 9/11 was a preview.

  14. Bea says:

We need another Pius V at the helm.
    He called for world-wide rosary.
He called the military forces of all Christian nations (which apparently we no longer are with the POTUS in the White House).
Against all odds the Saracens (Muslims) were defeated at Lepanto on October 7, 1571.
Hence our Lady of Victory (later for PC’s sake was changed to Our Lady of the Rosary).

ISIS is worse than Hitler’s Nazis, why can’t the world rulers see this and act now.
Hitler wrote Mein Kampf and laid out his plans for all the world to see and no one could believe.
ISIS has said the flag of Islam will fly over the White House and the POTUS is just the man to do it and no one can believe.
    How naive can we be.
We believe and trust in the goodness of others, but there are, out there, those who take advantage of our naivete and will mow us down.
Only God is good and only HE deserves our belief and trust, that is why we are in a pickle today.
We trust in man and his solutions. When we lose sight of God, we lose our sight period.

  15. JesusFreak84 says:

I just wonder which powder keg will explode first: Islam or Russia. Our Lady warned us about the latter, but the former still cannot be ignored.

  16. Magash says:

Do not confuse present day Russia with the USSR. Putin is no friend of the West, but he is also no friend of the immoral excesses of the West. Russia has already been dedicated to the Blessed Mother. Is not the fact that Communist Russia fell without a single shot being fired enough of a proof for you?
Islam is the foe we need to be worried about. Against them Russia might be more of an ally than an enemy. We don’t know yet. The leaders of the West are still unsure of what is happening and how to respond. It is like Europe in the 1930’s, as all of the leaders are attempting to avoid a war they don’t want, but haven’t yet seen can’t be avoided. Like the 1930’s, when it wasn’t until Belgium fell, it won’t be until Turkey is invaded and falling that NATO will understand they can’t avoid war.
Believe it of not Biden might be the most important man in this. He is a good friend of the Kurds, even supporting a Kurdistan cut from Iraqi territory at one point. As Obama’s presidency more and more becomes a lame duck Biden might become emboldened enough to take a stand, either behind the scenes or even publicly. He after all, know how to work with congress.
