30 August – Feast of St. Margaret Clitherow.

Today is the Feast of the “Pearl of York”, St. Margaret Clitherow, an English martyr, killed horribly by pressing in 1586.

She helped priests, which brought the terrible death they inflicted on her on 25 March, “Lady Day” which was also Good Friday.

They stripped her, layed her on her back, put a fist sized rock under her spinal column, placed the door of her house on top of her and then started to add weight. In 15 minutes, her back snapped and she died.

She was pregnant.

St. Margaret Clitherow, pray for us.

Gerard Manley Hopkins wrote a poem about here. HERE

MINAS TIRITH — Orcs marched on Minas Tirith this morning in a mostly peaceful protest.

We have in this a pretty accurate image.

From the Babylon Bee (not affiliate with The Horan of Babylon… who never will be even half the woman that Sr. Dede is).

Orcs March On Minas Tirith In Mostly Peaceful Protest

MINAS TIRITH—Orcs marched on Minas Tirith this morning in a mostly peaceful protest.

The rioters marched for peace, justice, and love in a calm, peaceful, orderly gathering outside the city walls. The mostly peaceful protesters launched peaceful siege projectiles at the city and sent Nazguls to maul Gondorian soldiers in a demonstration of their love and tolerance.

“Everything is very calm, very peaceful here,” said a reporter from Gondor News Network. “It’s very tranquil.” Just then, an Oliphaunt charged right at him and flattened him into lembas bread.

Gondor’s government was criticized for “police brutality” when, after a long period of inaction, Rohan’s armies finally charged in to break things up.

“We were just peacefully protesting — Gondor had no right to peacefully protest back,” said one Orc. “Two of their agents were even having a contest to see how many of us they could kill — and they were killing the majestic, endangered Oliphaunts! I’m literally shaking right now.”

Chalice used for target practice by Islamic militants displayed to raise awareness of persecuted Christians

From CNA:

Chalice shot by ISIS militants to be displayed in Spanish churches

.- As part of an effort to remember and pray for persecuted Christians, several churches in the Diocese of Málaga, Spain are displaying a chalice that was shot by the Islamic State.

The chalice was rescued from a Syrian Catholic church in the town of Qaraqosh on the Nineveh plain in Iraq. It was brought to the Malaga diocese by the papal charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) to be displayed during Masses offered for persecuted Christians.

“This chalice was used by the jihadists for target practice,” explained Ana María Aldea, an ACN delegate in Malaga. “What they did not imagine is that it would be re-consecrated and taken to many parts of the world to hold Mass in its presence.”

“With this, we want to make visible a reality that we sometimes see on television but we are not really aware of what we are seeing.”

The purpose of displaying the chalice during Mass, Aldea said, is “to make visible to the people of Malaga the religious persecution that many Christians suffer today, and that has existed since the early days of the Church.”

According to the diocese, the first Mass with this chalice took place August 23 in San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza parish in the town of Cártama. The chalice will be in the diocese until September 14.

“When you see this chalice with the bullet’s entrance and exit, that’s when you become aware of the persecution that Christians are suffering in these places,” Aldea said.

Schooling The Horan of Babylon about the Rosary. YES, it IS a weapon!

Look at this:

I’ll tell you what is disgusting… this twerp’s distortion of reality.

Friends, we are the Church MILITANT while we are in this earthly realm, this vale of tears.  We are like pilgrim soldiers on the march in ENEMY territory, which is under the domination of “the prince of this world”.  We are at war with the twisted spiritual powers which are arrayed against us with relentless malice.

The Horan’s fellow Franciscan St. Maximilian Kolbe founded the Militia Immaculata… ooops!… to combat enemies of the Church, such as Freemasons and just about every one at Chicago’s catholic Theological Union.  Well… had he known about CTU he would have fought it too.

Moreover, he described the Miraculous Medal as a weapon. He had the medals widely distributed, saying that it is “our weapon with which to strike hearts” and “a bullet with which a faithful soldier hits the enemy, that is evil, and thus rescues souls.”

St. John Paul II wrote in his Letter on the Rosary:

2. Numerous predecessors of mine attributed great importance to this prayer. Worthy of special note in this regard is Pope Leo XIII who on 1 September 1883 promulgated the Encyclical Supremi Apostolatus Officio a document of great worth, the first of his many statements about this prayer, in which he proposed the Rosary as an effective spiritual weapon against the evils afflicting society.

YES. The Rosary is precisely a WEAPON for our spiritual warfare.

We’ve been over this ground before with Michael Sean Winters, who is the Fishwrap’s official tricoteuse, who wrote that he wants to watch people he disagrees with die.  We been over this with Massimo “Beans” Faggioli, the incessant self-promoter whose manifest logorrhea is matched only by his uncanny ability to be wrong so often.

I created this masthead image for them.

The image I used is a fresco in the Vatican Museums.

At a Mass for the Assumption 2013, Francis told the crowds:

“Mary joins us, she fights at our side. She supports Christians in the fight against the forces of evil. Especially through prayer, through the rosary. Hear me out, the rosary… Do you pray the Rosary each day? I don’t know, are you sure? There we go!”

Archbp. Wenski:

[I]n the contemplative prayer that is the recitation of the rosary, Mary has given us a simple yet powerful weapon for the spiritual warfare that is part of our daily life in this “valley of tears.” It is not a weapon of violence or intimidation but rather one of peace and healing, for praying the rosary leads us to a more intimate relationship with Mary, the Mother of Mercy, our Life, our Sweetness, and our Hope. In a world still threatened by weapons of mass destruction, we have in the rosary — as Mary indicated to the shepherd children of Fatima — a weapon of mass conversion.

Fr. Calloway recounts

Mother Teresa passed through the airport security checkpoint, she had to endure that embarrassing procedure that is part and parcel of our troubled times: “Any weapons on your person?” Unexpectedly, the childlike yet remarkably bold sari-clad woman replied in the affirmative! She did have a weapon. She then indicated the Rosary beads dangling from her hand.

Hey…. Franciscan twerp!  Your fellow Franciscan St. Pio of Pietrelcina says:

“Love the Madonna and pray the Rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today.”

Yeah… I think I’ll go with his version, not yours.

Finally… again…

Fr. Horan… you aren’t half the woman Sr. Dede is.
