The Way of the Cross – Joseph Ratzinger (Good Friday – 2005)

Here is a reading of the Via Crucis, the Way of the Cross, composed by Joseph Card. Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, for the 2005 Good Friday observance at the Colosseum in Rome.

The text is English, though I use Latin responses and prayers between the Stations.http://www.wdtprs.com/prayercazt/080318_stations_ratzinger.mp3

I appreciate the support you have given to me and to WDTPRS

This is a token of my esteem.

UPDATE: Way of the Cross by St. Alphonsus Liguori (voice and with chant)

  1. Thank you for reading this meditation on the stations! It’s a favorite of mine, and one that I’ll enjoy using for meditation along with your St. Alphonsus Liguori stations.

  2. Immaculatae says:

Thank you,Father. It is wonderful that you have done this. This has been my favourite for the Staions for the past year. The ninth Station in particular touches me at this time. May God reward you through Mary.

  3. Jillian says:

Thank you, Father! These are great, and I like the Latin prayers/responses.

  4. J. Wong says:

    Fr. Z,

Thank you for sharing this with us. I’ve dowloaded the file and will be listeing to it frequently during Lent.

    God bless.

  5. Chris says:

thank you so much for this, Father- I had just been looking for a Podcast yesterday of the Via Crucis and could not fine one. This is perfect.

  6. Manuel says:

Thank you Father, I’ll also download the S. Alphonsus via crucis

  7. Oh – I’m so excited I get to sync my iPod tomorrow morning.

Father – I’ve really missed your PodcaZt’s. I love hearing from the saints, Fathers and doctors of the Church, and commentary.

But, I also understand it must be terribly time consumming.

    Fr Z,
Thank you for this! I was just given this book last week.

  9. Neil says:

Thank you very much for reading these meditations on the Via Crucis.
I have already listened to them with great spiritual benefit, and have burnt a CD of them to send to a friend who believes he may have a vocation to the priesthood.

  10. Maggie J. says:

Thank you so much, Father. This is very appropriate for this time. I will be listening to it often. God bless you.

    Ditto Maggie J.’s comment.

  12. Jose says:

Good job disallowing comments on the Archbishop’s chat.

I’m about fuming right now and I imagine I’m not the only one!

    Pray for us!

  13. Kaneohe says:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
This is surely one of my favorite Via Crucis and (per my humble request) is the one we have been using for the past several years at our parish.

It takes an hour or more for us to pray it – at first I was concerned people would be put off since the regularly used VC only took about 25 minutes. No one complained, rather they regularly state how much it touches them. Even our youth group requested to “lead” us in prayer (our Pastor doesn’t “do” the stations so it’s up to the lay faithful to organized and lead them – our youth will again lead us one Friday this Lent…great young men and women!)

Best of all, now I can pray it with you Fr. Z!

    God bless.
    Grace and peace.
