Prayers for the Sotloffs and for all of us

The incarnation of evil called ISIS (ISIL… whatever), according to the tenets of the Religion of Peace, bravely beheaded another helpless journalist.

Prayers for him and for his family.

Prayers that more people will wake up to what is happening with the rise of radical Islam.

What is going to be done about this?

St. Nunilo and Alodia, pray for us.

St. Lawrence of Brindisi, pray for us.

Amen to your above post, Fr. Z. Every sentence.

  2. Kerry says:

We are increasingly less sanguine about world conditions, yet very grateful to be out of St. Paul and in South Dakota. Ever since the request for prayers from the Bishops of Oklahoma, my wife and I continue with our daily Rosary, adding the Prayer to Archangel Michael at every decade. We start the morning with the longer Archangel M. prayer, plus prayers for Priests. We pray the Divine Mercy chaplet at the end of the day, and Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 3PM. We believe it helps. We are praying for men with guns to come to the aid of Christians in the middle east and around the world.
I do not think the Head Golfer and his band of caddies and sycophants have either the guts nor the wit to do anything decisive about this current band of Saracens, and their waffling hands them the initiative. A writer at Havok Journal says the bombing pinpricks are worse than useless, and the only ‘message’ carried is weakness. And it needs fearless, rough men to close with these dirtbags and finish them off, making ‘them’ frightened at every creaking sound. It was I think the First Special Services brigade that would sneak up upon sleeping German soldiers and leave on their chests cards that displayed the arrowhead symbol of the force next to the German words “Das dicke ende kommt noch,” or “The worst is yet to come.” (And left them on dead Germans as well.) Sound like a strategy for ‘iss’ to me.
I fear things will get very, very much worse before getting better.

Just learned of a news report that the King of Saudi Arabia said that ISIS will be in the USA in two months:

    http://www.businessinsider.com/saudi-king-warns-isis-jihadists-will-target-the-west-2014-8

The USA has been very fortunate since 9-11. Very fortunate. They have not experienced suicide bombers in shopping malls like in Kenya, or on buses like in London, or on trains like in Spain. It’s coming. Be prepared! And go to confession.

  4. GypsyMom says:

May God have mercy on Mr. Sotloff and on his family.
I fear that it will take attacks on our own soil before people engrossed in the NFL and “America’s Got Talent” wake up to the horror that is ISIS and the satanic “religion” of Islam. No time to lose in consecrating ourselves and our families to Our Lady, and, of course, in going to confession.

  5. Andrew D says:

Pray for the conversion of the muslims to the Church. Islam is the polar opposite of the Church and yes, I’m saying that means Islam is diabolical. As long as Islam exists, we will have terror and turmoil in this world. Let’s all pray for their conversion, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary to the Truth.

  6. Chris in Maryland 2 says:

In the Archdiocese of NY, near Lincoln Center and the mid-town Fordham campus, at St. Paul the Apostle, I visited the altar of The Annunciation, where the pastor and parishioners have posted Islamic propaganda from the Koran. Yes – the great and baleful heresy that denies the Incarnation and slaughters the children of the Church is marketed by profaning the altar of the Mother of the Incarnate – profaning the witness of the Maginificat, profaning the woman whose “Yes” opened the door to Jesus. The parish web site markets itself as part of the faction of katholic amchurch called “out-in-New-York.”

The archbishop wants to close Holy Innocents, and keep this parish. I think I get the message he and his staff are sending. As a former New Yorker, I wonder what being Catholic really amounts to for those working in the Diocesan office in Manhattan.

  7. Lin says:

When the administration refers to the Islamic State as ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and Levant), they are sending a message to Muslims that they do not recognize Israel as a sovereign nation, but as a territory belonging to the Islamic State. Pray for our country! Lord have mercy!

  8. aviva meriam says:

    Amen.

  9. YoungLatinMassGuy says:

Amen. Prayers said for his family, and for his soul.

Praying for the conversion of the muslims as well.

Sadly, many more are going to close their eyes on this life and open their eyes on eternity before all is said and done.

  10. That’s TWO Americans now. Unarmed, defenseless, hands tied behind their back, civilians were savagely murdered in cold blood. And what is our response?: Fore!

Americans, particularly liberal Americans, have been drunk on self indulgence for a few decades now. Let’s see if they sober up; and, since they’re the ones currently – and drunkenly – steering the ship, sober up enough to be effective against this aggression on the entire planet. Withdrawing our troops prematurely for pure ideological reasons and not for practical reasons, was Obama’s first mistake. His second is letting these cockroaches run roughshod all over us in an unprecedented way that no other American president has allowed.

  11. NancyP says:

I have been praying for the Foley and Sotloff families and for the souls of the murdered journalists, and for the leaders of nations around the world.

I need to find the courage to pray for the ISIS/ISIL terrorists who have murdered people in the name of the God they claim to serve. Only God can change their hearts. Honestly, it was easier to pray for Saddam Hussein than it is to pray for the ISIS/ISIL terrorists.

  12. Giuseppe says:

What is the appropriate political or military response?
I know realpolitik is passé, but would Saddam would have put up with ISIS and allowed these monsters to flourish?
My prayers are with the Foley and Sotloff families and for the souls of these 2 men, as I pray that they may find comfort in the arms of the Blessed Mother.

  13. RANCHER says:

From a variety of intelligence sources, not counting the Saudi, we know that ISIS is planning on attacks on U S soil in the near future. Our open southern border has undoubtedly allowed ample numbers of ISIS along with Hamas and others, to be here for some time in sleeper cells.

Since it is, given the inaction (intentional IMO) of the pretender in chief, certain to happen and likely won’t be stopped I sincerely hope that the initial attack is perpetrated in some bastion of Obama apologists and supporters. Maybe, and I say maybe, then and only then will the significance of “we don’t have a plan” register in their distracted, self-centered brains. Maybe, just maybe, they will come to realize what many of us already do–that Obama does have a plan and the Muslim takeover is a large part of that plan. Were it not for his race and the unjustified existence of white guilt this clown would have been impeached long, long ago. His treasonous actions would have landed any of his predecessors, had they committed them, in federal prison.

  14. SKAY says:

Thank you for your comment Lin.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_ancient_Levant

I have heard on news reports that the L stands for Libya but this sounds much more like how
    Muslims/Islam thinks.
We are painfully unaware of a lot of geographical history in the US and they know it.
I’m sure this President and many of his advisors do know.

  15. DisturbedMary says:

Chris in Maryland, St Paul’s is run by Paulists and they are way, way out there — on their way to being Jesuits if you know what I mean. Expect a leftist modernist progressive message. They are one of the three Manhattan parishes I know of that are known to be friendly to the lifestyle if you know what I mean. To be sure, they are not on Cardinal Dolan’s short list of Churches to be closed and sold as they serve a special community, if you know what I mean. Sadly, St Paul’s is the reflection of our broken and disunited New York Archdiocese. We are so busy being nice and inoffensive that we are completely lost in this cultural poop (if you know what I mean).

  16. LarryW2LJ says:

Shame on the MSM for not covering the genocide (yes, genocide) against Christians throughout the world by ISIS, Boko Harem and countless other Islamic groups throughout the world! This should be one of the major topics on every news show throughout the US.

My prayers go out to the Foley and Sotloff families and my heart is sickened by images of children, women and men being starved, crucified or beheaded and treated in all kinds of barbaric ways for their faith. These go unreported – all we hear from the vaunted media is how Israel must be charged with war crimes for defending itself.

In the meantime, our current POTUS is asleep at the rudder and our former POTUS is going around stating that “the truth of Allah’ is the key to solving the problems. There have been no significant number of Muslims in America protesting or demonstrating against these atrocities, and I am so very sorry to say that I am beginning to believe, as the one Imam asserted, that there IS no such thing as a moderate Muslim. “By their fruits, you shall know them”.

Confession, Adoration, prayer and fasting! Not only so that the Muslim aggression will be stopped, but that they will be converted to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and …. that our government will grow a spine.

  17. Priam1184 says:

These guys are brutal sonsab****es no doubt. The world is on fire now. Russia is moving west; slowly for now certainly but this is only the prelude. The caliphate is reviving the ancient practice of beheading and joining it to the uber modern phenomenon of social media. But are any of these ones any more barbaric than a society that turns mothers into murderers of their own children in their own wombs? And does it by the million each year?

Perhaps we are in store for a just judgement?

  18. JesusFreak84 says:

American mindset: “Eh, I can still have sex with whoever and the government’ll pay for my/her abortion. Who cares what happens to those people over there?”

  19. Cantor says:

Compare our Fearless Leader’s commentary with that of the Chechen leadership:

“I want to remind everyone who is planning something against our country, that Russia has worthy sons, ready to fulfill any order, wring the neck of any enemy in his own lair, wherever he may be,” Kadyrov wrote. “And we find ourselves with happiness ridding the world of these scum.”

This type of attitude helps prevent hostage-taking and cold-blooded murder in the first place. A shame we can’t draft Messr. Kadyrov ourselves.
