My View For Awhile: Long Trip Edition

I’m on my way for what’ll be a fairly long Italian sojourn, to include two pilgrimages.

Happily Hurricane Matthew has started out too sea, so it sseems he…she… it won’t be a factor today.

Remember when hurricanes were all female?  When did that change?

UPDATE

I’m in the air connected with the inflight WiFi.  After a live chat with a tech guy at Gogo about whether or not there would be wifi all the way to FCO on my flight, i was assured there would be and he made sure I had a day pass.  Thanks “Albert”.

I’m listening to music from the film 13 Hours In Benghazi… appropriate during this election cycle.  One cut in particular makes my throat tighten a bit every time I hear it.

If you haven’t seen it… it’s hard to watch but it might be good to do so, if you can, before election day.

UPDATE

I wonder if the wifi and this phone app can successfully post a short video…

??
Nope.  I’ll try again later

UPDATE

Off again.

The club was jammed and the sun was pouring in so it was warm.

This round of boarding was remarkably free of assault by purse and pack.

Skirting Matthew.

And wifi is working… so far.

UPDATE

I’m watching a documentary on the Fastball!  Very cool.

Walter Johnson! The Big Train had in his day 83mph.

Chapman

The Heater from Van Meter!

And then there’s this guy. 1.12

Anyway…. it’s a hoot.

I met this guy once.

And…

But whom did they adjust for an recalculate as the fastest?

UPDATE

Went around some weather.

And as I now shut off movies and the like to get some shut eye, a woman across the isle – who had a drinkie-poo – with a voice like into a saw designed to cut through large slabs of asphalt is regaling her friends ahead of her all about how she doesn’t really care about her hair.  And it goes on and on and on.  Wash and repeat?

UPDATE

The story thus far…

I dozed off it seems.   Good.

And it seems wifi is functioning well.

I asked an elderly Catholic woman that was a Clinton supporter on Face Book how she could square her support with her faith? Her response made Don Trump’s bus ride tape look absolutely CCD approved!

Kent Brockman: And the weather service has warned us to brace ourselves for the onslaught of Hurricane Barbara. And if you think naming a destructive storm after a woman is sexist, you obviously have never seen the gals grabbing for items at a clearance sale.

There is no comparison between decade-old vulgarity and her actions and words.
What a pity we now have so many people incapable of making moral judgments or applying logic and reason, that they can’t comprehend a vote for her is infinitely worse than a vote for him.
They seem putty in the hands of this evil regime and it’s primary supporter, the media.
    Please God, help us.

You are so fortunate to leave our shores right now. At present, we have the pleasure of reconciling voting for a man who acknowledges pursuing unwanted sexual advances on women with a candidate who stuck by her philandering husband who, at best, deserves castration.

God bless America. Write in Ben Sasse (one of the few Republicans to reject Trump months ago) and sleep soundly.

Oh Father, I’m glad you’re safe now. So sorry about The Saw Lady but I’m glad you were able to doze. I remember 8 years ago heading down South on the Crescent and being stuck behind a woman of the same ilk on her cellphone, and for more than 200 miles she talked about every aspect of her banal little life, every other sentence being, “Shut UP, I blah blah blah.” How I longed for the courage, with each ‘Shut UP” to say, “Yes, I wish you WOULD. . .”

Bullet Bob Gibson’s 1.12 ERA IS A RECORD FOR THE AGES. They lowered the pitching mounds in MLB after that feat. Saw the guy you met once and Gibby face each other in the 50’s. Safe travels, Padre.
