I’ve been there. The most disturbing thing about air travel with a wheelchair is the overpowering temptation to keep my crutches and velcro-applied boot for future trips so that that they wheel me through all the lines and I don’t have to wait for hours like the rest of them.

I hope you are feeling better. I am glad it things did not turn out worse. As a person with a permanent disability I can appreciate it can traveling can be difficult even when one is only temporarily impeded. Safe travels.

I knew there was something about the Holy Requiem Mass which you celebrated in the Chapel of the Crown of Thorns. It struck me right away. There may be more as well. Prayers for you, Father.

Gosh, I missed the accident post! I am so sorry to hear that you were injured but what a great opportunity to offer the pain at the foot of the Cross along with the sufferings of Christ, which I am positive you are doing. Just think of the souls you can spring from Purgatory also! Satan hates it when you turn misfortune and pain into prayer and an offering of it up to God for the benefit of souls here and departed.
I think your sense of humor in all this is great! You will be certainly be blessed! I will pray for a speedy recovery.
Dear Father Z, I pray you mend quickly. Yea offer it up…but gosh its all just so SO annoying!!
I am relieved it wasn’t worse …but you know…God crafts our crosses to fit us exactly. Isn’t it interesting that He knows exactly what tests us appropriately and knows how much we can bear?
When I get sick I wonder if it isn’t God’s way of saying “SIT DOWN!!” lol

A Meditation of St. Francis de Sales:
The everlasting God has in His wisdom foreseen from eternity
the cross that He now presents to you as a gift from His inmost heart.

I was relieved and happy to glimpse Fr Zuhlsdorf in Madison, being pushed in a wheelchair by his friend Fr Rick Heilman.
Sadly this is was at the visitation and solemn Vespers for our late bishop. People wiping tears. I look around and know so many people and think how much I love all these. Somewhat sad seminarians–one of them he would have been ordained transitional deacon this Friday, now to be ordained for us by Abp of MKE. Beautiful, and of course very well attended evening. Singing by the Sisters of Mary Morningstar (the former “contemplative Community of St John Sisters”). Black cope for the bishop leading Vespers, Paul Swain, who was once Bp Morlino’s Vicar General and Cathedral rector, now of Sioux Falls SD. Good homily. Some stories that give insight into the real Bishop Morlino who is a kind and gentle man not a caricature, and how it would be good if more bishops would imitate some of Bp Morlino’s particular virtues. Black pall. Big black candlestands and unbleached beeswax candles from the All Souls requiem. I wonder the vestments color for tomorrow. Doubt they went out and bought that many black concelebrant stoles.
