Summit Dominicans in the NY Times!

I am not a fan of the New York Times (aka Hell’s Bible) but they got something right this week.

The Summit Dominicans (the “Soap Sisters”) are featured in the Style section.  HERE

Great article. Surprising publisher. I predict more soap, more vocations and more donations for their expansion.

I forgot where I read it and who wrote it but I once saw newspapers in general referred to as “The Gospel According to Satan”. Reading your naming of the NYT “Hell’s Bible” made my morning so far (haven’t been to Mass yet). Thank you, Father.

Beautiful women! I can see why monastic life is making a comeback– a gift in the face of our increasingly chaotic lifestyles. I loved this: …”singing… is a deeper, fuller way of praying… because we are using our whole person.” It makes me sad to see an increase in people NOT singing in church– there is no part of the Mass that is unimportant or unnecessary. It doesn’t matter if you’re a “good” singer or not! Sing quietly if you feel you must. We are called to fully participate– and I’m grateful these nuns appreciate that. I know they’re referring to chanting their prayers– but this is equally as applicable to the Mass.

I wish their website gave more info on their soap, cosmetic, etc. products– like ingredients. I hope they are being good stewards of the earth/environment.

What a beautiful description of the nuns and their life. The photos are wonderful also; notice the joy on the faces. Yes, surprising considering the publisher. I hope it will gain them more sales and good attention. God bless you, Father.

As a resident of Summit, may I add that the Rosary Shrine is a blessing to our town. Among the many glorious aspects of its presence is that their chapel is open throughout the day for anyone who wishes to drop in.
