I am presently parked in Florida, where I am visiting my mother for a few days. Coming from Virginia, I picked up some bug and feel simply dreaful. I have propped myself up in front of TV for a bit to see some of their programs on the Holy Father and his visit to the USA.
Thus, as I tuned into the show The Papacy of Reason: Inside the Mind of Benedict XVI, I was thunderstruck to see myself.
This is a documentary produced in Rome by my good friend Raphaela Schmid, who has been producing some stupendous documentaries. I was profoundly impressed with a program she did on Catholics in China. I was interviewed for this documentary during my last trip to Rome.
At any rate, since I had my little camera next to me in my laptop bag, I shot a some photos of the screen.
There were some very prestigious people in this show, as it turns out. Several Cardinals, including H.E. Marc Card. Oullet (who could wind up being Pope one day) and the great Joseph Card. Zen. Cardinals Levada of the CDF were interviewed as well as Cardinal Cordes.
Among the liturgical commentators we had Archbp. Malcolm Ranjith
And my friend Fr. Michael Lang, who has done so much to help people understand the importance of ad orientem worship.
We also got to see a shot of another friend, the Pastor of the new FSSP parish in Rome, Fr. Kramer, as he celebrated Mass at San Gregorio dei Muratori.
There were many other people of note in this documentary. I highly recommend you see it if possible. It hits a homerun in its view of Papa Ratzinger’s view of the Church and what he is trying to accomplish.

A friend called me halfway through the show to tell me that “Father Z is on TV!” I switched it on and watched the rest of the program and found it fascinating. I hope you feel better soon, Father!

I hope that Cardinal Ouellet becomes the Pope some day; Orthodox to a tee, and pretty JP2-like. Also, I’ll be able to say I’ve met/served at Mass for the Pope.
The documentary was very good (the parts I saw, I didn’t catch all of it). And it was closed captioned too which is always a plus. That’s always hit and miss on EWTN…

I was having a tough day today in the dental office. A couple of crowns didn’t fit. The day was packed. And to top it off, my dental assistant sucked a cotton roll up the suction line which I had to go after when the office closed. So there I am, wishing I was home, tired, irritated, going through dental suction lines to find a blockage, and had EWTN on in the operatory as background.
When I was about to lose it, I heard a familiar voice come on the program. It sounded like a certain PODCAzTER I listen to. As I turned around, there was my favorite blogger giving a great explanation for the Pope’s Marshall Plan. I watched the whole thing.

Thanks for the preview, Father. The Tivo is queued-up and ready to go once the little one’s are in bed. Actually, come to think of it, I’ll watch with my 6 year old; he’s fired-up that Papa Bene’s in the country. On the way to school this morning, he asked, “why isn’t Pope Benedict coming to Los Angeles?” He actually caught me off-guard and all I could do was hem-and-haw then mumble a completely unsatisfactory answer. :) Hard to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth on that topic. ;)

Pacific, though sometimes at EWTN the schedulers’ right hands don’t know what the left ones are doing. Just ordered Fr. Lang’s book. Should be arriving tomorrow.

Time for Tivo (or a DVR). Watch what you want on your own schedule. I can’t remember the last time I actually watched something “live.” Plus, we watch so much less tv than before.

I have no doubt that you are an important personage by the “viewer-count” on this blog.
And, may I say (and I say this, finally, with tongue out-of-cheek) you are an accomplished writer in your
own regard–really, your commentary on certain liberal articles takes on the form of an art, par excellence,
with respect to criticism.
This brings me to your article, supra: the mind of Benedict is a great mind, indeed. We are very, very fortunate
to have Benedict at this juncture in the history of the Church.

We actually tried to incorporate a CEREC system into our office. unfortunately, the learning curve saw too steep for the other, older doctor, so we had to abandon it due to lack of productivity. It’s not a panacea, and it can lend itself to “creating work” where it isn’t needed just to pay the bill on the machine.

I haven’t had a crown, but the dentist used it on a broken tooth at the back of my mouth. I was very pleased with the result. Among other things it beats the long, involved process of getting a crown–plus it was less than half the price.
I thought that ham looked familiar. ;)
You, my friend, have a special gift of teaching/explaining things to all levels. You take the “technical” and make it understandable to the rest of us. Also, as you’re speaking, you easily hold a person’s attention by simply being yourself. You allow your personality and enthusiasm of the subject matter shine through. A rare gift!

Looks like the FSSP priest is giving the absolution after the second (third) confiteor!
Regarding the documentary, googled it; looks like it’s not for sale, but aired only on TV. Anyone, is that so?
