Go Yankees!
Sooooo… this is how it is going to be, is it?
You may have to close this combox Fr. Z; because I HEARD from a high ranking OPUS DEI member, who was actually on the trail of a secret artifact which would prove that Jesus was the original drummer of the Beattles, that you are only in NYC because you want to be party of the VICTORY Celebration!
I can hear the music in the Bronx now…
“NEW YORK, NEW YORK!”
Yes, what could be better than to be in NY when the Yankees win. And you can come watch the parade on Friday before you say mass Friday evening. Have you ever been in the canyon of heros during a ticker-tape parade, Father? This will be a trip quite repleat with bonuses. /Ed
hmmm, it’s the team with the most heart vs. the team with the biggest payroll…
GO PHILS!!!
Love them Phightin’ Phils! Whoo hoo!!!
Welcome to our fine city!
Well Father, you opened the door. I just happened to walk in :-).
“Start spreading the news…”
…I’m all for tradition…
Give my regards to Archbishop Timothy M Dolan and thank him for the wonderful article on anti-Catholicism.
Father,
I am afraid that I shall root for the Yanks, as I always do. I come from that part of New Jersey that has a severe Yankees/Mets divide. Better the Phillies in the fight than the Metropolitans.
However, as far as competitors go, you have to love the Phillies. What a series, such excitement, such strategy, such heart.
This is one of the best I can remember.
Enjoy Nueva York, try to eat some real bagels and bialys. We do not have them here in Charlotte.
Reverentiam tuam dum in urbicula commoraris nostra consalutare potero?
I’m home watching it with a serious Yankee fan too – you may remember David S.
He actually really loves the Rockies too, so there’s hope.
You cannot go wrong with St. Patrick’s…. of course I might be construed as partial.
It has been a hard evening.
It was a rough night for this Philadelphian. :(
The Yankees’ winning is never good for baseball.
Well… I was pulling for the Phillies, simply because I cant stand the Yankees.
I will pray for you Father, even though I’m not a baseball fan.
Father, that last image makes me glad I fell asleep before the end. Ah well, another day.
XXVII !
I don’t have TV, so I listened to the game on the radio. Luckily I woke up before the end of it and was able to ‘hear’ the celebration on the field!
Yeah, Vincentius…I’m sayin’ the same thing….XXVII! Woo hoo!
Sorry ’bout that, Fr. Z…and you’ll be there when the Yankees come down the Canyon of Heroes on Friday!
The Yankees win! Thu-u-u-u-u-h(sic) Yankees win. phillies? An obscure team from a second rate city. These days brotherly love can have a disordered meaning. It’s quite interesting that those who hate the Yankees, accuse them of buying a team. You can buy the finest ingredients but if there is no cohesion, you’re left with a lump of un-cohesive dreck. (You’re in NYC, better pick up ein bissle Yiddische) The Yankees play in the largest demographic market in the U.S. The seats in the new stadium are extremely expensive, nevertheless, the games are consistently packed. The owners to their credit plow most of their revenue back into the team, i.e., salaries, amentities, etc. They’re spotsmen, not bean counters. So all you Yankee non-fans, get over it! BTW, by all means get an authentic bagel (not fluffy dough) with a schmeer, or if you want more protein and a veggie, have some belly lox and a thick slice of onion on it. How about the blognic? Saturday?
A native NYer
Another quarter of a billion dollars, another championship over another NL pushover. The only reason the Phils won last year is they were up against a AAA team.
We’ll get ’em next year. GO SOX!!!
“Another quarter of a billion dollars, another championship over another NL pushover. The only reason the Phils won last year is they were up against a AAA team.”
What does it say about the Red Sox if THEY couldn’t get past that same “AAA” team
last year but the Phils could? And as I recall, didn’t a team called the Angels
SWEEP the Red Sox in 3 games? Good luck next year.
Strange — I must have been turning on the radio or t.v. at just the wrong times, because I wasn’t finding anything about who won last night’s game or whether or not there was a World Series champion. It wasn’t until tonight that I finally saw something about the Yankees winning. All in all, I got the impression that this wasn’t being treated like that big a deal.
“All in all, I got the impression that this wasn’t being treated like that big a deal.”
No, you were just in the twilight Zone. obviuosly, it is a “big deal,” hence, the number of comments made, not on a theological or liturgical subject.
Q.E.D.
We’ll see you tonight, fodda.
I notice that there were 27 comments before mine…27…hmmm. Doesn’t the world feel just a little righter the past two days?
