Watching the video I never saw Cardinal Etchegaray go down. I heard after that it happened after the initial attack when the woman tried to flee. If that’s true it only increases my anger with the security in the Basilica. You let a 25-year-old woman REPEAT the very attack she attempted the year before, and then you can’t even subdue her and she gets away to break the femur of an 87-year-old man? Outrageous.
May God grant His Eminence a quick, full, and painless recovery.
Prayers ascending for the speedy healing of the Cardinal.
We should also pray for the “wacko”.
Prayers for His Eminence.
Cardinal Etchegaray will need all the prayers offered. In November 2007 he suffered a fall resulting in a fractured vertebra and which I understand necessitated three months in bed. It is very sad that he has once again suffered a serious fall at his advanced age.
Have prayed for the Cardinal and will continue prayer for his full, speedy recovery.
I offer my prayers through the intercession of Sts. Drogo and Stanislaus Kostka.
Said a Hail Mary for him . . . maybe I should get St. Jean Vianney to come in too. :-) Indeed, may he — and all of the sick — get well.
I note how the Vatican daily dispatch translates the hip as the “neck of the femur.” At least situations such as this can produce some mirth.
