Austrian MP tells it like he sees it. KABLAM!

Here is an amazing piece of video from the Austrian Parliament.

Austrian MP Ewald Stadler speaks to the position of the Turkish Ambassador and tells off some of his colleagues.

During this, he addresses the lack of outrage when a Catholic Archbishop, Luigi Padovese, was killed in Turkey and mentions the priests who have been killed.

I wonder if this fellow wouldn’t be open to ordination and elevation to some Austrian see.

But… who is this guy, Ewald Stadler?  His wikipedia entry states:

[H]e was close to the Catholic traditionalist movement the Society of St. Pius X. Stadler is a member of the Catholic lay association Compagnia di Santa Maria della Mercede, affiliated with the Mercedarian order.

Well!  Not an indifferent Catholic, he.

There are subtitles if you can’t follow the (Austrian-accented) German.

Sts. Nunilo and Alodia, pray for us.

Well it’s about time!!!. God Bless Ewald!. Couldn’t agree more!.

  3. becket1 says:

Wish he would have mentioned how the Patriarch of Constantinople is discriminated against as well, by Muslims!. They seem to forget that Christianity was on that land first!.

  4. danphunter1 says:

God bless that good brave man!

  5. Legisperitus says:

“This is the Turkey, now telling us what to do.”

I love the way that translates into English. :)

  6. jjfxg says:

finally somebody with the guts to point out how hypocritical the islamic world is (and this is only Turkey, a relatively secular nation)!
    “your religious freedom is pure-hypocrisy.”

  7. Mariana says:

In German you say the Turkey, as in the Lebanon or the Ukraine.

According to Wikipedia, he his married with six children, so no ordination or (ecclesiastical) elevation in the offing!

  8. Fr_Sotelo says:

Wow. This guy has a backbone of titanium steel and a tongue that could slice diamond. I don’t think his equal is to be found in all of Europe.

  9. rakesvines says:

I posted his video as well. It is the most natural and common sensical response to such crimes yet, you don’t see the Catholics in the House and Senate or our so-called Christian president decrying these atrocities. This confirms that the upper eschelons of our government have been inflitrated by Islamic influence as disclosed by this insider

  10. Dr. Eric says:

He could be ordained as a Deacon.

  11. Ferde Rombola says:

There isn’t single politician or Catholic bishop in the USA with the guts to talk to Islam like that. We need more of it from any source. Islam has most of the world cowering in a corner and there’s no reason for it.

  12. spesalvi23 says:

Incredible!! Absolutely unthinkable in Berlin!! They would have sent a special forces commando into the Bundestag to stop him from talking bad about our trukish friends!
    Wow!!

  13. Rich says:

Makes me wish I could understand it in the original German.

  14. La Sandia says:

Ooof. Doesn’t mince words, does he?

I hope he doesn’t get the Geert Wilders treatment.

  15. pberginjr says:

    Amazing!!!

  16. K. Marie says:

Posted this on FB. Waiting for all my liberal friends to start whining about me being judgmental.

  17. terryprest says:

And don`t forget what was said by the American diplomats about Turkey as disclosed by Wikileaks. The Austrian MP perhaps was pulling his punches.

And don`t forget the Martyrs of Iraq and the Christian Iraqis under persecution,

  18. sea the stars says:

The tide is beginning to turn against the Islamic scourge in Europe. The minaret ban in Switzerland, the burqa ban in France, Geert Wilders’ courage in Holland, now Ewald Stadler in Austria. Add to that the growing information about Islamic barbarism agains their own peope: “honour” killings in Germany and elsewhere of young girls who fall in love with non-Muslims, wife beatings and disfigurements. The barabrian thugs can’t shut down the Internet or stop the truth from getting out.

  19. Joseph says:

The Austrians (Viennese) beat back the Turks twice in their history (1529 and 1683). will it happen once more?

  20. TJerome says:

The Archbishop of Vienna could take a cue from this courageous man! God preserve him.

  21. Tantum Ergo says:

WOW!! This makes me an avid proponent of artificial tissue regeneration. This fellow should donate spinal stem cells.

  22. catholicmidwest says:

Very good. I notice there were people, particularly males, clapping in response. Imagine that! It’s about time somebody grew a pair in Europe.

  23. becket1 says:

Quote from Joseph: “The Austrians (Viennese) beat back the Turks twice in their history (1529 and 1683). will it happen once more?”

Keep in mind that this is only one Austrian Catholic. And a traditionalist Catholic by the way. Most Austrians support womens ordination, gay and lesbians in the Church, etcc. This is one, God bless him again, man, who stood up for what is right.

  24. JMody says:

Folks that can’t understand German really missed out — he is lapsing into what we would call “brutally frank” or even “unprofessional” comments. His remarks about not using terms like “excellency” — what he said in German was that he wasn’t going to use such a word or knell, because that might make his trousers dusty.
At 3:18, where he’s talking about burying a 16-year-old for shaming her family, and he addresses one of his colleagues, he says “what’s your problem, Frau Muhltonnen” –> that’s probably not her real name, since “Muehltonne” means “waste basket” or “trash can”, and with his accent, I can’t tell which word he’s actually saying. But she should feel free to feel pity, because the victim wasn’t Catholic … ! My German wife’s jaw hit the floor about four times during the speech here, and the rest of the time she was cheering him on.

William F. Buckley once wrote about how a certain anti-Communist/Soviet measure must be as effective as dripping holy water into Hell with an eye-dropper — and it seems to describe this speech perfectly. All I can say is:
    “Herr Stadler, bravissimo! Voll Einsetzen!!”
St. Marco d’Aviano (shameless plug for coffee would work well here, Fr. Z., I can’t believe you missed it!!) pray for us.

  25. PeterK says:

I’m surprised he didn’t bring the story about the fellow from Graz who was prosecuted for yodeling while the Muslims were praying

  26. Magpie says:

If you enjoyed that, you will love this – Nigel Farage – UKIP MEP laying into the European Parliament. It is class!

‘The Euro Game Is Up! Just who the hell do you think you are?’ – Nigel Farage MEP

  27. Joseph says:

I strongly recommend to listen to the unedited version on Utube. there is a lot more to be had. Then there is another speech given earlier in the year in defense of the Catholic church regarding the abuse scandals.

  28. doozer125 says:

I want to send this guy a Thank You card!

  29. irishgirl says:

    Herr Stadler ROCKS! BINGO!
At last….a politico who has the spine [and a tongue to match] to tell the Turks and the rest of the Islamic world what for!
Man, he was talking so fast! How could the secretaries who do the minutes keep up with him?
‘A tongue that could slice diamond’-hey, that’s a good description, Fr. Sotelo!

  30. Jitpring says:

I love this speech. I love it so very much! Maybe there’s still some hope in Eurabia. On a related note, I recommend that everyone search for and read these two articles from Theodore Dalrymple, who is, in my view, today’s greatest essayist and cultural critic:

    When Islam Breaks Down

    &

The Barbarians at the Gates of Paris

  31. priests wife says:

I was blessed to live in Austria for four years- amazing words from the gentleman- German is a funny language- I understand quite a bit, but the subtitles are opposite to what I am hearing because their syntax is inverse

  32. GrogSmash says:

I wish Herr Stadler wouldn’t hold back so much! He needs to open up more and speak his mind! (He said facetiously!) Bravo Herr Stadler! (Can we import him to the U.S.?)

  33. Patrick James says:

I first saw this video on the jihad watch website. Originally it was met with approval. However, it was later claimed the Herr Stadler has anti-semitic and neo-fascist views. I have not seen the sources on which these claims were based. However, Robert Spencer, the director of jihad watch, is normally extremely careful with his sources. Whilst many of us may applaud what he says on Islam and the appeasement of it in the West, there may be a dark side to this man.

  34. pewpew says:

I’m stunned by all the Geert Wilders support around here. I’m dutch, and tough he makes a few very good points, he is also very hostile and to a group of people, and stigmatizes them. Some of his remarks are directly in opposition to Christian hospitality, and human rights in general.
