I would prefer the use of a Calvados instead of a .308 bullet. Cheaper in tableware consumption and I think it tastes better too.

It is great to see that these Bros and Priests and Bishop are real men! They did not give up their masculinity in giving their lives to Christ.
Fr Z Do you have a good vennison meal that you have cooked that you could show us? My favorite is Burgundy peppercorn venison loin steaks, with asperagus, cheesey mashed potatoes and a fresh garden salad.
Maybe Cowgirl could chime in here on a collaboration between the two of you on venison!

Bishop Etienne cares enough about his priests and religious to go spend some time with them, praying, snowmobiling and having himself photographed even in what many of his fellow bishops would consider politically incorrect circumstances (ie firearms).
Bishop Etienne also is so devoted to the Blessed Mother that he even has her initial M prominently displayed on his coat of arms.
Hmmmm… you don’t think? No. There couldn’t be a connection between the two? Could there?
After years of enduring so much lavender, we give thanks oh Lord for a return to to purple amongst your shepherds!

Man, we really miss Bishop Etienne here in Southern Indiana. I’m glad that God called him to higher service in the church.
Thanks so much for alerting us to Bishop Etienne’s blog…I hadn’t realized he was blogging. I knew him as a child when he was associate pastor at my parish. After he had been there for a few months, my younger sister went up to him after Mass and told him that his homilies had really improved! :-)

Wonderful! I always love how joyful they look. There are some nice photos of them on the New Mount Carmel Foundation website. I would link to the sledding one, but I am afraid the link would be too long and I don’t know how embed it. I don’t even know how to spell that…embed, imbed, em-bed? I am trying to say it with two syllables, but it looks like one to me. Oh well.
COMPLETELY excellent! Carhartts are da bomb – don’t know what we’d do without them in the duck blind or on the training field, especially with all the snow we’ve had.
Nice rifle, too. I think I have the same one – Ruger M-77 in .308 with a 4x scope, but with a wood stock not nylon camo. Nylon is better in the snow and wet . . . .
I’ll take a big thermos of Mystic Monk and extra cups with me the next time we go out with the dogs. It’s appreciated.

Do you think it’s a Remington? I can’t see the fore-end, but I thought the comb was more prominent on a Rem 700 . . . ?
Not that there’s anything wrong with either one.
The camo makes it a little tough to make out some of the details but overall (including the camo pattern) it looks like a Rem 700. Cold as it appeared to be when the photo was taken I’d be more interested in the Mystic Monk coffee than the rifle :)

We’d love to have priests come up to Alaska and spend time in Carharts, with guns, and going hunting. I know lots of fine places to stay with good cooks. We are always in need of GOOD Priests who need a nice “retreat.”

Monks (and bishops) on 4-wheelers are pretty cool too.
I guess if you’re going to be the bishop of a place like Wyoming, you had jolly well better be able to meet your flock where they live!
(we have some fine rural areas in Georgia where 4-wheelers, Carhartts and good rifles by whatever manufacturer are appreciated, but Catholics tend to be pretty thin on the ground out there. They mostly hang around Atlanta metro, where eagles wings types and swooners abound.)
We’ve seen Nuns With Guns, now we have—Carmelites in Carhartts? Religious With Rifles? Either way, I love it!
