Even as I remind people that, under Pope Francis’ watch, former-Father Greg Reynolds is still excommunicated, we learn that the reigning pontiff once worked as a bouncer.
He is still working as a bouncer.
One of the most important thing that a Pope (bishop… priest) does in and for the Church and God’s people is say “NO!”. A lot.
As a matter of fact, on the lists of things that Pope’s (bishop’s… priest’s) must do in and for the Church is say “NO!”. A lot.
In the meantime, I like that he has Wayfarers on. I need new sunglasses. I may stick with the Wayfarers but I have my eyes on Persol this time.
“He is still working as a bouncer”
If that is so then his skills are going to be in great demand in the near future, as in, for instance, Germany.
@ jacobi,
Exactly what I was thinking. Can we really expect him to be anything other than a total pushover, “fluffy” bouncer?
How is this for a really Lamestream Media headline:
Pope Francis: I was a club bouncer before joining the Catholic church
http://www.philly.com/philly/news/breaking/Pope_Francis_I_was_a_club_bouncer_before_joining_the_Catholic_church.html
Nowhere does it say when he joined the church… Was he a pre-baptism bouncer, or what?
Wayfarers are too heavy. What is the advantage of Persols?
I am told that in Greek the word for ‘yes’ is pronounced ‘Ne’.
@majuscule,
Thanks for the amusing link.
The Philadelphia media worded that one wrong but they sure do make a heck of a cheese-steak in South Philly.
Dear Reverend Father Z, I know you’ve been a priest for a goodly many years, so you may have forgotten, but we in the laity likewise need to say “NO!” (particularly in this culture) frequently and forcefully. [To the world. Yes. While remaining in the world. Part of it. Apart from it.]
Funny cartoon.
Fr.Z ,as someone who travels a bunch, try Serengeti’s. They are my favorite.
Are we sure this whole thing wasn’t just a mistranslation of the Holy Father’s recounting of his time in the minor orders?
@Hank Igitur
Persol’s classic design folds in half! :D
And then there are the blue lens…
Yes, Bosco Greek for yes sounds a lot like no (neh) and their word for no sounds like okay (okee).
I recommend Maui Jim sunglasses.
