What happened in Rose Garden when POTUS spoke about prisoner trade?

This is interesting.  From Allen B. West:

Clare Lopez is a former CIA operations officer, a strategic policy and intelligence expert with a focus on Middle East, national defense, WMD, and counterterrorism issues, and a friend of mine.

She emailed me this morning a very poignant analysis that only someone knowing language and Islam could ascertain. She wrote:

“What none of these media is reporting is that the father’s (SGT Bowe Bergdahl’s father Bob) first words at the WH were in Arabic – those words were “bism allah alrahman alraheem” – which means “in the name of Allah the most gracious and most merciful” – these are the opening words of every chapter of the Qur’an except one (the chapter of the sword – the 9th) – by uttering these words on the grounds of the WH, Bergdahl (the father) sanctified the WH and claimed it for Islam. There is no question but POTUS knows this.”

Folks, there is a lot to this whole episode — like Benghazi — that we may never know. And this is not conspiracy theory, it is truth based upon Arabic and Islamic dogma and tradition.

And here’s the video if you have any questions.

I removed the embedded video, because it automatically begins. Annoying. Go HERE to watch it.

And look at this from Gateway Pundit:

Bob Bergdahl went and deleted this tweet where he wrote “God will repay for the death of every Afghan child, ameen!”

[…]

On Sunday Bob Bergdahl said he was proud of how his son Bowe was willing to help the Afghan people.

“But most of all, I’m proud of how much you wanted to help the Afghan people, and what you were willing to do to go to that length,” Bob Bergdahl said, fighting back tears during a press conference in Boise. “I’ll say it again: I’m so proud of how far you were willing to go to help the Afghan people. And I think you have succeeded.”

Parents Bob and Jani Bergdahl didn’t elaborate on what that meant.

That’s just bizarre.

I’ll say.

In the meantime, the MSM isn’t talking about the V.A.

Hey!  Wait!  Isn’t Pres. Obama really good at killing people with drones?  Maybe he has A Cunning Plan™.

“Measures to protect our national security”…What, three inch tape measures? “Iron clad”….Westinghouse irons? GE irons? Spray and starch…?

  2. excalibur says:

It is just additional bizarreness in this bizarre administration.

    • Obama gets dissed by Karzai when he went to Afghanistan for Memorial Day.

    • The miserable reception of his speech at West Point

    • The VA scandal.

    • Two resignations on May 30.

Then after 5 years this sudden move for a guy, who was from all I have read, is a deserter. And at least 5 Americans have died searching for him.

  3. Bosco says:

¡Vaya lío! Traditional Americans are deeply suspicious of this President’s approach to patriotic patrimony, ethical nuance, the law, and ceremony.

So I must say again ¡Vaya lío! Everyone knows you have to break a few eggs to make a political or theological omelette.

  4. Cantor says:

I am relieved to see the return of any serviceman to his family and his country. Period.

That being said, I am appalled to hear my “commander in chief” tell me that the Qatari government has assured us that they will put into place measures to protect our national security.

  5. ray from mn says:

I studied Farsi (Persian) when I was in the Army. Farsi uses the Arabic alphabet and many Arabic words. And most serious Muslims can read the Koran, always in Arabic editions. You’d have to be a moron to not know what Bergdahl’s father meant.

Trading five Taliban leaders for a deserting enlisted man who probably revealed tactical military secrets to his captors is the most irresponsible presidential decision ever made. In a parliamentary democracy, the Prime Minister would have no choice but to resign and call for a new election.

“Bism allah alrahman alraheem” is the the Arabic equivalent of the Catholic “Our Father who are in Heaven”, I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Hail Mary, Full of Grace, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have Mercy on Me a Sinner and “In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” All together. Anyone with the slightest knowledge of Arabic faith and culture would know that. But apparently, not our president (sic).

  6. James Joseph says:

My gut tells me that this whole episode might be a ruse.

Remember when the man who became President G.W. Bush went ‘awol’ and ended-up being a CIA agent on special assignment in Vietnam working on prisoner releases?

But hey, what do I know? I’ve never been to Afghanistan. I’ve never worn a long beard over there. I’ve certainly never served in an unofficial role under the leadership of the Afghan khan! I wouldn’t know a single thing about that place nor how politics work at the foreign service level. Nope. I wouldn’t know a thing about how these things work.

    Or would I?

  7. Sonshine135 says:

Obama is either incredibly vindictive, or incredibly stupid. The terrorists they released are supposedly responsible for genocide in several Afghan villages. Obama has demonstrated he supports the Taliban and has abandoned the sacrifice of many men and women in service to this nation. May God have mercy on his soul.

  8. HeatherPA says:

Yes, this sounds about right with this administration. I really wonder what the Tate of our military is going to be in 2016. My husband is a retired Marine. This is heartbreaking to witness, all of it.

  9. Jim Dorchak says:

I always creeps me out when a husband and wife do not stand together at an event like this. Just saying.

  10. HeatherPA says:

    *fate* —apologies.

  11. Suzanne Carl says:

Just days before, the mouth-piece of Sauron, Jay Carney quit, and Obama had a private meeting with Hillary Clinton. This will all, as Fr. Z says, go back to Benghazi. I truly believe that it is a work of evil that this man with no experience was elected twice… probably illicitly. When will the U.S. justice system begin to unravel the damage done to our military, our health care, our economy… There is a profound reason Obama decided to close the Vatican embassy. This is not conspiracy theory. This is obvious conspiracy before our eyes, if they are open!

  12. Supertradmum says:

I do not believe POTUS is a Muslim, but a Marxist, steeped in Black Liberation Theology from the “church” he and family attended for seventeen years. But, more than that, he is a narcissist who really believes in nothing but himself.

Ergo, for someone to come and claim the WH would not matter to him as he really does not care what happens to America. He has had his moment of fame, his Nobel Prize and whatever.

That a Muslim would claim the WH is must a Muslim taking advantage of a given situation. And, folks, if we had real Crusaders, why would we fear this?

America will unravel quickly because of several ideologies bearing upon this once democracy, just as the barbarians picked up Rome after the interior collapse.

  13. Elodie says:

Agreed, Supertradmum, the guy is a Marxist. He doesn’t believe in God. But there’s been a weird history between Islam and fascist/communist dictators of the 20th century. I suppose it’s a case of each using the other – but I’m not sure either side has thought through the logical outcome of those two extremes being the last ones standing.

  14. RANCHER says:

Trading 5 of the most violent US hating terrorists in the world for an Army deserter is an act of treason….one of many which the current pretender in chief is guilty of. And based upon his father’s words in Arabic the deserter and his father evidence proof of the saying ‘ fruit does not fall far from the tree”.

  15. Elizabeth M says:

Can’t we just march around the White House, praying the Rosary and sprinkling (Dousing!) the grounds with Holy Water?

If we can March for Life to the White House, why not this?

If this man’s intent was truly to claim the Capitol for Islam, we have the means to reclaim it. All is not lost.
    ¡Vaya lío!
(How close do you have to be to perform an exorcism? After all, the Hope Diamond was Blessed etc before going to our Nation’s Museum.)

  16. Sean Stark says:

Thanks for linking to the video Fr.
If you take a good close look at the Prez., just after 4:00 when the father Bob Bergdahl begins “Bism allah alrahman alraheem” the Prez. smiles as the father Bob Bergdahl recites this. Would anyone like to comment on what that smile of the Prez. signifies?

  17. Priam1184 says:

I heard him say that, the bismill … (I won’t utter any more of it on this Catholic website) bit. I know some Arabic and am somewhat familiar with the way things work in a couple of Muslim countries. A lot of times people will start any statement with that phrase or introduction and invoke Allah seeking some sort of blessing on their communication or conversation or business deal or whatever. I don’t think he was speaking Arabic but he may have been speaking Pushto because he referenced the fact that his son had been in captivity so long in the tribal areas along the Af-Pak border. That Arabic phrase got incorporated into a lot of non-Arabic and non-Semitic languages spoken in Muslim countries. It may be going a bit far to say that its use there claimed the White House for Islam, since I am almost certain that it has been used many times before in the White House by visiting dignitaries from the Arab and Muslim worlds. And even if it did then so what? Obama is who he is and our dying society is what it is and our problems are of our own making and will be solved by our repentance and the exaltation of the Catholic Church in this country or they will not be solved at all. They are not the fault of a few Arabic words uttered in the Rose Garden.

  18. Kerry says:

Taking as a ‘given’ that the POTUS is a liar, what of anything he says after “If you like your doctor…” can be believed? He talked about getting ‘Bo’ healthy, really, REALLY? Where, at the VA? Churchill said “In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” Bodyguard of lies indeed.

  19. benedetta says:

Remember, for this brand of political activism, from the top to the ‘roots’ (and vice versa), the only value, and the only dogma adhered to, in all things, worshiped even, in a sick way, by some, and we certainly see it in the actions of those who believe it their mission to destroy the church from within by so many things is: the ends justify the means. That is the only value, dogma, principle. One may say it is always thus in politics…no. That is historically, factually, incorrect. The dominant and controlling m.o. here is the ends justify the means. There is nothing else. Why do we expect leadership here in any capacity on terms of vision, values, principle, integrity.

Although I believe that if one may give such public credence and support to Islam, then, it becomes even more a gross violation to deny Catholics the freedom to worship and practice faith freely, doesn’t it.

  20. LarryW2LJ says:

This whole entire affair stinks – Benghazi, too (as I insisted from the get-go)

All I have to say is, that if it were a Republican President who did these things, the Democrats and their minions, the MSM would have forced him out of office by now. I’m not saying that what he did was right, but Richard Nixon was evicted for far, far less than this.

  21. DisturbedMary says:

I’m waiting for him to let the blind sheik and Khalid Sheik Mohammed go. Just a matter of time and we’ll be told they are close to death or have cancer and should be released to return to their loved ones before they die.

54% of Catholics voted for this. Keep lots of blessed salt and holy water around folks. We ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

  22. StJude says:

I dont now how we survive a population who closes their eyes to all Obama has done.

  23. Uxixu says:

As a sandbox combat vet, I wouldn’t expect to be bargained for though I would expect thunder and boots and tracked vehicles on the ground and aviation in the air turning over every rock and tent in the desert.

Even a 1 for 1 trade for a top tier spec-ops snake eater would have been ill-advised for precedent it sets. For an individual who seems like less than the ideal and possibly was detained under dubious circumstances of his accord, 5 for 1 seems dangerously incompetent in the extreme. Worse yet, it appears that the White House didn’t do even a cursory examination before releasing very VERY dangerous men who will almost certainly return to jihad. If there were ever men for whom any possibility of release or escape is possible, these are perfect examples for why Holy Mother Church allows for the moral possibility of a death penalty, for example.

  24. Priam1184 says:

I may want to amend my previous comment. Are there any Arabic/Persian speakers here who would like to tell me that this guy’s father’s (possibly mispronounced) message to the Afghan people, “khalifa al-thani” doesn’t mean what I think it means?

  25. Bob B. says:

And the five Taliban are free to move about Qatar as they please? Wonder what they’ll be planning to do in the near future? What kind of idiots did this?
During Vietnam, there was a “Salt and Pepper” team of Americans operating in a VC propaganda platoon west of Chu Lai. The Special Forces were “very” interested in these traitors and tried to get them a number of times. They were never captured, so they apparently languished there.
With no military background (watching drones and SpecOps troops doesn’t count), POTUS hasn’t a clue, but you would have thought that the SecDef (having some military experience) would have nixed this in the bud. Of course, he’s gone along with eradicating religion and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell from the armed services, so never mind!

  26. LeeF says:

I don’t think our president is all that smart, as in ingenious, and the same with his advisers. However a crafty president might make this trade, regardless of the warts of the US soldier, precisely as a way to empty out Gitmo as some have claimed. And then, when those Taliban inevitably drift into more favorable climes than Qatar, target them with drone strikes. That would be kind of Nixonish, and O doesn’t have the chops for it though.

  27. aviva meriam says:

Anyone else amused that even Chuck Todd at MSNBC noticed the Administration was surprised the public didn’t react with “euphoria” at news of the Trade? Either they didn’t know about the accusations of desertion and treason, or they thought the public wouldn’t find out or care.

  28. Kathleen10 says:

Bowe Bergdahl broke my heart at least one year ago, probably longer. His picture, the young and handsome one and the ones where he was clearly suffering from his imprisonment, were almost more than I could stand then. I prayed for him and for God to help free him.
I am stunned by the revelations about what he has reportedly said, and I’m disgusted entirely by his weird father’s comments. His comments are treasonous and reprehensible. Now we may see why the little apple didn’t fall far. I am hoping Bowe Bergdahl has learned alot in five years, about America and freedom. He surely has been influenced by his traitor Dad.
That our White House did this without telling anyone else, fits in with how this White House has done everything. They do what they want and there are no consequences. I don’t even listen to the gripes anymore. Who cares. Impeach him and I’ll listen. I’m living for 2014 and 2016. I hope we make it to that time. God help America.

  29. Lin says:

“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” from page 261 of the paperback edition of The Audacity of Hope.

POTUS knows what he is doing! Perhaps he will pardon the rest of the detainees at Gitmo as his final act as president. That Catholics elected him TWICE speaks to the lack of catechesis in the church today. GOD help us! Much prayer and fasting is required!

  30. Norah says:

I have read that the emir of Qatar gave 100 million dollars for hurricane relief after Hurricane Katrina.

  31. Augustine Thompson O.P. says:

Interesting. This man was raised and home-schooled, as a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian “church,” just about the most hard core Calvinist sect in America. And here his father is mouthing Islamicist slogans. I would like to hear a “defense” of this from the “Orthodox” Presbyterian sect.
