I get lots of emails asking me to post their event on my blog.  I can’t do that for everyone.

Here is a post for you to post your news. Be brief.

In the Albany Diocese on 26 September at 6pm we are having a night of prayer and fellowship to build up men’s minstry. The goal is to encourage the formation of men’s groups in our area.

Our bishop will lead us in adoration with confession, then a sung devine mercy chaplet, a talk by Mark Houck, follow by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and concluding with pizza and beer.

This will occur at St. Ambrose Parish at 347 Old Loudon Rd, Latham, New York 12110.

More information and RSVP can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/TKMAlbany and here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1116428841705966

Here’s another great opportunity for authentic masculine spirituality.

Any man within driving distance to Allegany State Park in New York (about an hour south of Buffalo) should attend this “Outdoor, Experiential Retreat Weekend for Men”.

There is daily Mass and rosary, perpetual adoration, outdoor cooking and chuch building, orienteering and great camaraderie.

I’ve been three times already and it is a great experience. Before going I had never been on any retreat. I brought my father-in-law last year and it helped him return to the regualr practice of his faith. Please attend if you are able, you won’t regret it.

The 81st annual Pilgrimage in Honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a special ministry of the Sisters of St. Basil the Great. It has been held every Labor Day weekend since 1934 on the grounds of Mount St. Macrina Monastery in Uniontown, PA. It was in 1934 that the Sisters & pilgrims celebrated the blessing of the then newly acquired Monastery for the Sisters. In 1935, Pope Pius XI gifted the Sisters with a beautiful icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help requesting that they spread devotion to the Theotokos under that title.

The Pilgrimage is a source of ongoing renewal & provides for the spiritual needs of the many pilgrims who frequent this major unifying event in the life of the Byzantine Catholic Church. Participants include clergy & faithful from across the country. The Pilgrimage offers the celebration of the Divine Liturgy; opportunities for the Mystery of Reconciliation; Anointing of the Sick; adult enrichment programs; activities for children, teens, young adults; & pastoral counseling.

The Pilgrimage is the oldest & largest Byzantine Catholic Pilgrimage in the US. The theme for the 2015 Pilgrimage is “Mary, Model of Consecrated Life.”

Today is the Feast of the Transfiguration, the patronal celebration for all of El Salvador (“El Salvador” means “The Savior” and refers to the Transfigured Lord). The Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano published a 1976 Transfiguration homily by Blessed Oscar Romero that I translated to Italian on my blog polycarpi.blogspot.com. Of course, many masses in El Sal. today for the Feast of the Transfiguration.

Weekly TLM – Starting this Sunday, August 9, we have a weekly offering of the Mass in the Extraordinary Form by a priest with faculties, at 8:30 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption.

Solemn VespersSt. Mary’s downtown is trying to get Sunday Second Vespers up and running on a regular basis. They held them last week; I don’t see Vespers on the parish calendar for the 9th, but if you’re in the area you might shoot the church an email and check (or at least express your interest in attending). If you’re anywhere near Nashville and haven’t looked in on what Fr. Baker is doing at St. Mary’s, you’re missing out.

  11. Titus says:

    P.S. for Nashville:

The celebrant of the weekly E.F. Mass, Fr. Terry McGowan, will be giving a presentation and answering questions about the E.F. immediately following the 8:30 a.m. Mass on the 9th. There will be food and drink.

I am happy to announce that The Pope John Paul I Association is now offering holy cards with Papa Luciani’s picture and prayer for his intercession by the Bishop of Belluno (well intercession-ish, because he is still just a Servant of God). There is no charge for the cards, but we do accept donations. You can get them here.

Also keep the site bookmarked and check back in a week or so because we will soon be making a big announcement!

After that finishes, you might be interested in a study in the same place, day of the week and time of the Book of Revelation based on the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible New Testament, to begin after Labor Day, most likely the first Thursday after Labor Day (watch the Cathedral Parish bulletin for official announcement).

This fall the Archdiocese for the Military Services will hold its first-ever retreat for priests who are already ordained and serving in a religious order or civilian diocese but are discerning a call to service as a Catholic priest chaplain in the US military. The retreat is in Washington DC from October 5-9. All expenses, including travel, will be paid. More details, contact information, and a retreat application form are at http://www.milarch.org/site/c.dwJXKgOUJiIaG/b.9292945/k.91FA/For_God_and_Country_Retreat.htm.

Beginning in September 2015, the Traditional Latin Mass will be offered on a monthly basis at St. Denis Church in Fort Fairfield, (near Caribou) Maine. This is the first time in more than 45 years that the Church’s ancient liturgy will available in this part of the country. Fr. Kyle Doustou a newly ordained priest of the diocese has a great devotion to the Extraordinary Form and in fact prayed his first Mass as a priest last year in the EF.

Father is looking for financial support to cover the expenses of obtaining the necessary altar cards, vestments etc. He has set up a gofundme site for that purpose:
