Off I go again, after this short trip to the land of the rising sun. The system works well here: bus service runs to the airport regularly (though I am informed that it will be late to the hotel today). Hopefully this won’t cause problems on the airport end.
UPDATE:
After rapid checkin and security and emigration, I found the lounge to be comfy. Not much time here, but it’s better than the terminal’s seating and brouhaha.
The second most tedious part now though perhaps the most irritating.
The boarding process. Although they are good at putting people into lines. They put me in the wrong one, naturally. There were many apologies.
My view for a good long while.
We lucked out… seat open by me!
Waving and bowing to the plane…
UPDATE:
WiFi! What a difference that makes. I’ve seen most of the (worthwhile) movies already and I shan’t want to read for the entire time. Furthermore, I would just as soon stay awake for the flight. When I arrive it will be late afternoon. I actually am scheduled to arrive 20 minutes before I depart. And there’s a social thing I am supposed to be at tonight….
UPDATE:
Next flight. I’m in pretty good shape.
The Minnesota air wing is across the way.
I determined that the lunar eclipse tonight will be at midpoint at about 2130.
Is everyone ready for TEOTWAWKI?
UPDATE
Last leg
I admire you for even thinking about attending any sort of event after a flight from Japan. Glad you had a good trip.
Looks like you watched Gone with the Wind. You hadn’t seen that yet?
The first time I made that flight across ten time zones, I thought I was fine. Then I fell asleep sitting up on my couch at about 8:30 pm Friday and woke up at 11:00 am Saturday. Don’t go on any long drives.
Father are you signed up for the Global Entry or TSA Pre-check program?
Yes I have Global Entry. It helped today. Four big flights arrived at the same time (Amsterdam, Paris, Bangkok, Tokyo) and the customs line was backed up down the corridor to the jet bridge. I slithered through the edge along the wall with some crew and bypassed several hundred people. The kiosk took about 30 seconds and I was on my way. If you do these trips a lot, it helps.
I got through Dr Zhivago also.
Hunker down for the Bloodmoon, Father. We need you around after…..
I guess it is not a secret anymore where the SPTDB is!
I hope that you enjoyed your time here in Japan. If you never really left the Tokyo area, though, you missed out on all that the country truly has to offer. Apart from the state of the Catholic Church, I’m perfectly happy to remain here as long as I can.
[Let’s stay in touch. Maybe we can get something together! Is there is TLM community there?]
Enjoy your orientation Father!
Barely. To my knowledge, there is only one priest in the entire country that offers the traditional Mass, and he had to retire in order to do so. Father says Mass in his own home now, and there’s a handful of people that attend. He lives there in Tokyo, which is why I’ve only attended once. I still have his contact info for next time I’m up that way.
Welcome home, Father.
Dare I say, ‘Epic!’? – thanks for identifying Dr.Zhivago – I was puzzling over that Revolutionary snapshot!
Ultramontane,
What sort of heritage or living tradition/continuity is there of the work of St. Maximilian Kolbe?
