YOUR URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS

Please use the sharing buttons! Thanks!

Registered here or not, will you in your charity please take a moment look at the requests and to pray for the people about whom you read?

Continued from THESE.

I get many requests by email asking for prayers. Some are heart-achingly grave and urgent.

As long as my blog reaches so many readers in so many places, let’s give each other a hand. We should support each other in works of mercy.

If you have some prayer requests, feel free to post them below.

You have to be registered here to be able to post.

I still have a pressing personal petition.

ALSO… I received a note from a friend, T, who asked for prayers “to save my marriage and family”.   I’d appreciate it if you good people would ask the Holy Family all to intercede.

The pressing matters always have to linger in life. I will pray, Father.

Please pray for the Central Province of the Dominicans, as well as the Southern Province. There are some good men in both. Please pray for a personal intention(s). They are also very pressing. Thank you.

  7. Kirk says:

Please pray that my fourteen year old son will admit his mistakes (sins) and for him to stop resenting me for calling him out on them. Pray also that he will repent and ask for forgiveness from our Lord. It would be nice also if he would say he is sorry to his mother and I.

  8. Cafea Fruor says:

Please pray for my health and my spirits. I keep getting one thing after another, and I’m tired of being sick. A couple of months ago, it was a week of Norovirus. Then I was in the ER just recently for something quite painful but not life-threatening, and I apparently picked up a case of mild pneumonia while there. I think this is the first time a health problem has actually had me legitimately scared because pneumonia can definitely become life-threatening rather quickly. Anyway, this it started out as something resembling the flu for a few days, and then after feeling slightly better for part of a day and thinking I was on the mend, I crashed. Went to the doctor the next day and found out it was definitely worse than just the flu. I have a steroid inhaler and antibiotics now, and I can see a tiny bit of improvement in how I feel, but I still feel MISERABLE. My lungs feel like they’re on fire with every breath. The coughing fits are enough to make me choke and almost throw up. I desperately need sleep but can’t sleep for more than a little bit before I wake myself from the noise of my own crackling and wheezing (sounds like someone moaning next to me). I have to sleep on my back and half sitting up, but wait, who am I kidding?, I’ve never been able to fall asleep on my back. I’m a side sleeper. I can barely talk without a coughing fit if someone calls (thank goodness for texting!). I can’t get remotely comfortable. Taking a shower is an ordeal, not a comfort. Making a cup of tea is a big effort. If this is mild pneumonia, I can’t even begin to fathom how bad severe pneumonia feels. I’m bone tired. I’m foggy enough that I can’t focus to read or watch a movie, but I’m with it enough to be bored and feeling cabin fever like crazy. I live alone and have been inside since the middle of last week, aside from going to the doctor and picking up prescriptions, and it’s really, really tempting to bemoan my singleness (I never dreamed I’d be 40 and alone) and the fact that my family has all moved away, feeling sorry for myself about not having someone to cook dinner, make tea, run to the pharmacy, or even just be present in the next room to let me feel no so alone. Heck, it’s even easy to worry, “What if I passed out or badly deteriorated and there was no one around to call 911 for me?” The friend I can usually call on for help and who has a key to my place is out of town, so I can’t have her come check on me. So please pray for swift recovery from this and for a little encouragement or consolation.

Even prayer is quite the challenge. Meditation is out the window, as is the Office, but the Rosary is the one prayer I’ve been able to do. If you zone out for a bit or have a coughing attack, you just pick up where you left off, and it doesn’t feel like you had a major interruption. That Rosary might take well over an hour that way, but it’s not like I’m in any rush. And we all know that the first person that everyone wants when they’re sick is Mom, so while Mama Mary can’t make me chicken soup or physically comfort me, I can definitely ask her for a little spiritual comfort. I’m learning how much wisdom there is also in the Church’s tradition of ejaculatory prayers. Great for those times when even the Rosary is too much.

  9. Spinmamma says:

My heart is full as I prayer for everyone. Such power in love and prayer. Please pray for me that I might have the graces of wisdom and fortitude. I truly need them now. Thank you.

  10. beelady says:

Praying for all intentions here. Please pray for my husband, Patrick. That his health will continue to improve and that God will keep him healthy. Also for him that he will take on a much more active role in parenting/disciplining our daughter.

  11. Suburbanbanshee says:

Please pray for my family and I. There is a lot going on.

On a different topic, Fr. Z, am I right in remembering that there are prayers against epidemics, saints who intercede, etc.? Maybe this would be a good time for priests to start pulling them out, if only on behalf of the rest of the world?

  12. Suburbanbanshee says:

Cafea Fruor – I’m not a doctor, but years ago when I had a string of respiratory illnesses, my doctor decided that I needed more vitamins because I was low on it, and especially a Vitamin A supplement. Look it up; it is big for immune system stuff. Getting sick uses up your stores, and then you are more likely to catch stuff. Vicious circle.

So when I got a couple chest colds in a row just recently, I finally broke down and got a Vitamin A supplement, and now I feel better.

  13. JustaSinner says:

For my oldest daughter, that she finds peace in her future.

  14. Sandy says:

Praying for Father’s intentions, including “T”, and all of you. Please pray for “D” who has a heart condition and now has a terrible cough and chest congestion. May St. Michael remove a spirit of pneumonia and respiratory system distress.

  15. I will pray for all the intentions written here.
Please pray for Lili, a young woman in Massachusetts who is in a medically induced coma after a car wreck. Please pray for Luke, 16, with Down Syndrome, who will need pulmonary artery surgery in August. Please pray for the needs and health of the Pentlow family.

  16. jcapt says:

Please pray for my teenage daughter, A, who has entered a deep depression and is self harming. We’ve found the St Michael prayer to be helpful, but any prayer you can offer is appreciated!

  17. Cafea Fruor says:

Suburbanbanshee, that’s a good thought. My vitamins are checked every year at my physical and are usually fine, but maybe the GI distress from the norovirus depleted the stores. I’ll ask the doc about that when I follow up with her next week.

And thanking everyone for the prayers. I actually managed to get some serious sleep today (first time in several days), and that’s a huge step.

  18. kat says:

Please say travel prayers for my husband who must drive about 16 hours tomorrow, possibly with bad weather, and other travelers this weekend.

Also for my oldest child, who has lost her Faith and plans to be married outside the Church.

For my son in the seminary.

And the sanctification and salvation of my whole family.

All of the intentions on this page will be in my prayers.
    God bless you Father Z.

  19. L. says:

I ask for prayers for Colin, age 5, and his family. Colin is the grandson of a friend of mine, and he was diagnosed last month with an aggressive neuroblastoma. The initial prognosis was poor and the tumor was thought to be inoperable as it was wrapped around his abdominal aorta, kidneys, spleen etc.. After the initial reports, there followed Masses and other prayers offered for his recovery, and the news then got better- that his cancer has not spread, although he still will have to have chemotherapy and likely surgery.

  20. Mrs. Amen says:

Please pray for me. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I have scans next week that will determine if it is Stage 3 or Stage 4. I will pray for all of your intentions as well.

  21. Charivari Rob says:

Asking for prayers for a dear friend and his family – and for his mother, who just passed away.

  22. Willamingo says:

Recently diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Prayer, please.

  23. Fallibilissimo says:

Reading these, praying for you all….there’s so much sufferance out there. God be with us.
Please pray for me, for courage.
