At NCREg there was a piece entitled: “Pope Francis to Parents: Never Condemn a Child”
From a reader…
Dear Fr. Z,
In light of this article, I was going to write Pope Francis a letter.
Dear Pope Francis,
My oldest son is….. a trad.
Please advise.
Sincerely,
Distressed Dad
I wonder what his response would be were he to be asked that from parents all across the world.

I am IN! Thanks for the giggle today, Father. I will get that letter off tomorrow!
Honestly, I have little doubt that Pope Francis would advise that dad to disown and marginalize his trad son unless and until son undergoes psychiatric treatment (i.e., anit-trad conversion therapy). Pope Francis rejects trads and all our works and all our pomps. As Ivereigh explained recently, the Holy Father won’t dialogue with trads for the same reasons why he won’t dialogue the ‘Ndrangheta and the Sicilian mafia. You can’t negotiate in good faith with the hopelessly corrupt and irredeemably bad. And that’s us. Leave the gun and take the cannoli.
Why bother with Dad? Cut out the middle-man:
Oh dearest (Holy) Father of mine: I am a trad. disown me not, in my youth.
The pity of it is, we have all seen that he doth not practice what he preacheth.
“(P)arents who see different sexual orientations in their children; how to deal with this and accompany their children and not hide in an attitude of condemnation” says our Holy Father. So, in other words, do the opposite of Jesus Christ Himself and accept an ABOMINATION UNTO GOD?!!!! Do not condemn MORTAL SIN?!!!! ACCOMPANY a child on their path to ETERNAL DAMNATION?!!!!!
THIS from the VICAR OF CHRIST on Earth?!!!!!! I’m going to put on my sackcloth and ashes now. Sigh.
Devil’s advocate, so to speak:
When he mentions “sexual orientation”, is he talking about same-sex attraction or someone struggling with gender identity? In that case, he would be right. The right thing would be supporting one’s child in remaining chaste and not ruin his/her body, soul, and mind. OTOH, if we’re supposed to support actively pursuing sex and/or mutilation, then…no.
A little more of the statement is:
Pope Francis at General Audience on the problems faced by parents: “So much pain — parents who see different sexual orientations in their children; how to deal with this and accompany their children and not hide in an attitude of condemnation” adding “never condemn a child”
