YOUR URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS

Please use the sharing buttons!  Thanks!

Registered or not, will you in your charity please take a moment look at the requests and to pray for the people about whom you read?

Continued from THESE.

I get many requests by email asking for prayers. Many requests are heart-achingly grave and urgent.

As long as my blog reaches so many readers in so many places, let’s give each other a hand.  We should support each other in works of mercy.

If you have some prayer requests, feel free to post them below. You have to be registered here to be able to post.

Finally, I have a serious personal petition.

I would like to pray for the Holy Spirit to give the gift of ‘counsel’ to my ‘Parish Council’ tonight. It is our first meeting with new members.

  2. chantgirl says:

I recently found out that I’m about 9 weeks pregnant. I conceived (from ultrasound dating) a few days before having ovarian surgery. Providentially, the little one was still in the fallopian tube during surgery, and so missed the drugs that they gave me. Also, my OB made a decision during surgery not to flood the fallopian tubes with dye, probably saving the little one. The difficulty is that we will now not be allowed to resign the lease on the house we rent, as we will have too many people for the number of bedrooms. Five bedroom houses are difficult to find to rent in affordable areas, and many landlords will never call you back when they find out that you have lots of kids. We can’t buy a house until we sell one that we still pay for in another city. Needless to say, I am leading a St. Joseph’s litany every night with my kids for a safe pregnancy and a resolution to our living situation. I think St. Joseph has a soft spot in his heart for pregnant women who need a place to live, and an old house to sell!

  3. The Sicilian Woman says:

For the repose of the souls of our departed military service members, and for comfort, healing and peace for their loved ones.

For our military service members suffering from physical, mental and emotional injuries, in particular Marine Staff Sergeant G.S., may they and their loved ones receive all of the care and support they need, and be comforted and healed.

For a newborn member of my family, that he overcome his upbringing by his aetheist/agnostic/secular parents and become a faithful Catholic Christian, and that his grandparents grow a backbone to encourage this, and return fully to the faith themselves (same for the rest of my family).

For myself, for my many long-term struggles and protection from despair.

Thank you. I will add Fr. Z’s and all intentions posted and to be posted here to my Rosary.

  4. The Sicilian Woman says:

P.S. Chantgirl, congratulations on the baby, and good luck with your housing situation!

  5. Jeannie_C says:

For Mamajen, a regular commenter, who was scheduled for a C Section 10 days ago. We haven’t heard from her so assume she was delivered. For her healing, for her newborn and family.

Also, for myself, for the kidney scan I am to have tomorrow that the diagnosis and treatment plan may go according to God’s will. Thank you.

  6. Angie Mcs says:

Please pray for the soul of my cousin, Kathy. She contracted rheumatoid arthritis in her teens and spent a lifetime in terrible pain, but always struggled so bravely, working with special needs children, traveling, keeping her sense of humor and doing whatever she could do. Finally, her heart and lungs could no longer support her and she was bedridden for quite some time. At the end, she was so happy that hospice could give her enough morphine to make her pain free for the first time in decades. She left us yesterday, quietly and peacefully, at age 61. She was like a little sister to me, and I will miss her terribly. My greatest consolidation is that she is no longer in pain and I hope to see her again someday.

  7. I will add the above requests and all posted here, and especially yours, Fr. Z., to my rosary. I have two requests: one is that I am in a very difficult situation re. spiritual direction. Also please pray for someone whose long-time desire has been to fulfill a vocation to religious life. Thank you.

  8. cantrix says:

For my mother, diagnosed with colon cancer a few weeks ago. She will undergo surgery on May 28. The doctors are encouraging about the outcome, but my parents are quite nervous.

For myself, struggling with recent setbacks on multiple fronts, that I may overcome my natural tendency to depression and despair and seek only to do the will of God.

I pray for you daily, Father, as well as all of the posted intentions.

  9. lizaanne says:

    For my cousin, Anne.
Anne (we call her Annie) is in her late 40’s, and has suffered many years with MS. She lives with her slightly older sister who has cared for her for many years. They just lost their mother about two weeks ago after complications from a fractured rib — the elderly are so very fragile!!

Anne is currently in the hospital, unconscious, and on a ventilator. Please pray that they can at least remove the vent and she can breathe on her own, while they work out the rest of her issues.

Their family has been through so much loss and pain lately – please keep them in your prayers.

Thank you so very very much.

  10. e.e. says:

Please pray for us as we continue our journey to adopt a sibling group, that God would remove all the obstacles and make us a family.

Please also pray for my brother, who is struggling to find a job that pays enough to make ends meet, and all others who are facing unemployment or economic hardship.

  11. LarryW2LJ says:

Please keep Donald McClarey and his wife Catherine, and their son 21 year old son, Lawrence in your prayers. Donald is the author of “The American Catholic” blog. Lawrence passed away Pentecost morning. This is surely a difficult time for them.

  12. Catholic Granny says:

Please pray for our young son who suffers from chronic health issues and has now lost his faith and belief in God. Please pray that he will find his faith and love for our Lord through his suffering. Thank you.

  13. Philangelus says:

Please pray for God to guide the outcome of an interpersonal/contractual situation I’m in right now, and which I’m not sure how God would prefer to be resolved.

  14. Philangelus says:

Hit ‘post’ too soon, sorry. S.G. is from my son’s high school and is in very bad shape in the hospital right now with a massive infection. Last week they weren’t sure he’d survive at all. Please pray for his recovery.

And I will pray for everyone’s intentions in this post during my rosary today. God bless.

I’ll be praying for the others listed here, but I’ll have to check back later to read them–have to catch a bus for work now.

  20. DumSpiroSpero says:

I am offering all of your prayer intentions in my prayers today and every day–Please do me a favor and pray for my father who has been struggling to recover from a rather difficult surgery–he is still not eating and drinking properly and he needs to do so to get his strength back and heal properly. Thank you all and God Bless

  21. chantgirl says:

Eugene, may I suggest prayer through the intercession of St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi? She was christened Caterina, and during her early time with the Carmelites experienced excruciating stomach pain. Her feast day is coming up on May 25th.

For those wanting to read about her life and works, you can read bout them here:

If you can spare a prayer, for me, that I may find financing to carry out postgrad studies at a very reputable institution abroad where I’ve been offered a spot (a big deal for me)… and perhaps too a prayer that if it doesn’t work out, I have the courage to accept whatever Providence has planned instead. Very gratefully, quid quaeritis.

For the upcoming pastoral re-assignments in our diocese.

I will pray for all these intentions.

  50. Animadversor says:

Please pray for me as I deal with very grave internal and external difficulties, or rather, pray that I may be able to deal with them, since because of my native depression, perfectionism and pessimism I feel wholly overwhelmed and paralyzed, especially since I must handle these things alone. I confess I am very frightened, not only of the external difficulties, but also of myself. Although I have no intention of ever doing “anything foolish,” and indeed have a very firm intention of not doing such a thing, I quite understand how middle-aged men in my position can feel such despair. I hope that this has not been too obscure. Many thanks to all who may spare a prayer for me.

  51. Animadversor, I will add you to my rosary intention. Have you got a spiritual director? A good spiritual director can be enormous help in the situation you describe.

In your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of a dear Priest, Abbé S. He will be missed.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

  55. Just to say thank you to all who have prayed for my intentions above – there has been a move in both. The Lord is good.
