About this blog…
“This blog is like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” – Fr. Z

In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

To donate monthly I prefer Zelle because it doesn't extract fees. Use

Spiffy photo of real nuns on Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day!
For Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, a friend sent me this spiffy photo of real nuns. I’ll bet the Magisterium of Nuns has boycotted Chick-fil-A. Tonight I will make chicken in solidarity with Chick-fil-A. By the way… on Monday I ate beef, … Read More

Some highlights of my sorting and throwing efforts. Here is a spiffy black velvet Low Mass set. The black is intensely so. I haven’t used it for a long time, now that I think about it. A detail: Eleven years … Read More

QUAERITUR: Does kneeling for Communion show a “spirit of disobedience”?
From a reader: Our new pastor recently published a letter in the bulletin [I’ve cut that out in order to “anonymize” this.] in which he uses the GIRM [General Instruction on the Roman Missal] to argue that those who genuflect … Read More
