There is a CNS story about the opening of the LCWR meeting. There is no mention in the story about the fact that SNAP is protesting that the LCWR has been entirely unucooperative preventing abuse of children by women religious (which has happened).
There is no mention of SNAP in the secular paper in St. Louis either.

The media has for so long labelled every criticism of women as bigotry to protect the feminist deity and its daughters of contraception, abortion, and divorce with royalty cheques from the evil patriarchs they laid with, that they have convinced themselves that covering this side of the story makes them bigots. Nay, they probably suffer from cognitive dissonance that no women would ever do things like this. Not. Ever. Especially not a group of enlightened women who are on board with supporting their fight against the evil patriarchial Church with its male God and it’s outdated bigoted morality.
This means at least a couple things:
The MSM doesn’t give a damn about child sexual abuse. It only “cares” about child sexual abuse when the perpetrator is an individual or an institution it wishes to tear down, such as priests, the Church and its male hierarchy…the latter which brings me to
The MSM is sexist. Child sexual abuse by men? Bad, evil! (And it is.) Child sexual abuse by women apparently gets leniency or a free pass. Hiding this serves its purposes as painting the Church as a woman-hating, corrupt, outdated hierarchy.
The same arguments above could be applied towards liberals in general. Your average commenter on any news item about the Church will bring up “priest raping children,” or some variation of that phrase thereof, even if the article has zero to do with the sex abuse cases, because the commenter truly doesn’t give a damn about the victims, just smearing the Church.
I could go on about the biases, manipulations and coverups of our free press, but I’d be preaching to the choir (and the preacher).
Honestly, I don’t trust SNAP, so the media can ignore them. If SNAP were protesting Cardinal Dolan, I’d like the media to ignore them then too. I don’t see why the identity of whom they’re protesting matters all that much.
You linked to an article in the St Louis Beacon, which is an on-line newspaper in St Louis, not the Post Dispatch. The writer is Patricia Rice, one of the best religion writers ever, who is retired these days and writes occasionally for the Beacon. Her focus was on the meeting itself and I thought she did an excellent job in describing the folks involved, lots of info about Archbishop Carleton that I didn’t know and she even pointed out that the major speaker was related by marriage to a famous Vietnam War Berrigan brother. She probably assumed the Post would have photos of the SNAP people. Where’s Tim Townsend? He hasn’t written anything in the Post since the middle of June.

But there’s a different problem with the on-line Post Dispatch’s navigation system.
This morning there was a tab that said “Columns and Blogs” where I clicked and found Tim Townsend, as usual, under what was called “Keep the Faith”. It had a list of his articles – the last one was this one on Atlanta Archbishop Gregory from June. It’s the same “Columns and Blogs” tab I used yesterday and the day before as I was wanting to see what Tim would make of the LCWR meeting but it never showed up.

Under “Columns and Blogs” there was also a section called “Civil Religion” with a variety of writers.
This evening I found the new article by Tim Townsend which you linked under a tab called “Lifestyles” and a further tab “Religion” – under a section called “Belief St. Louis.” The array of front page tabs changed from this morning – there is no longer a tab for “Columns and Blogs”. BUT the links for all of these articles (the ones I found and the ones you found) include “/faithandvalues/” in the URL. There is no tab for “Faith and Values”. Who would guess that you need to look under”Lifestyles”?
Continuing on with my problems with the Post Dispatch. I tried 10 times this morning using their “Search” app – for LCWR, SNAP, protest and other relevant terms. No luck at any of that.
I entered “Tim Townsend” and was directed to that page I mentioned – “Keep the Faith” with the article on Gregory being the last installment. But this evening, the search gave a list of all of Tim’s articles – including the ones under “Keep the Faith” and the ones under “Belief St. Louis.”
The Post badly needs to hire a new webmaster so readers can find stories.

It’s an election year. The LCWR types are Obama’s best stooges to sucker in ill-informed Catholic voters.

What is SNAP?
Sigh, big mommy brain moment. I saw the headline and thought “why are food stamps protesting the LCWR?”

You’re probably one of the relatively few people who actually thinks of The Program Formerly Known As Food Stamps by its current name, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, aka SNAP. I deal with Medicaid rules in my day job so when I see SNAP I think “Safety Net Adjustment Payments” (extra federal bux sent to “safety net” hospitals with high numbers of low income/Medicaid patients).
But I digress. I check the P-D website maybe once or twice daily for news and it seems to me they aren’t making that big a deal out of SNAP protesting the LCWR because they aren’t making that big a deal out of the LCWR assembly itself. They have bigger news fish to fry, so to speak, including Missouri primary results, Olympic results, Cardinal game results, etc.

Creepy, creepy, creepy. Who had more access to children than teaching sisters?
God help them if a group came forward who were verbally abused and recipients of extreme corporal punishment that was so often the plague of Catholic Schools. This group of liberal nuns were around and either witnessed it or were complicit. Fortunately there were also some very loving and affirming nuns during that era as well.
