A Prayer of St. “Padre” Pio

Today is the Feast of St. “Padre” Pio.

Here is a prayer of Padre Pio.

Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have You present so that I do not forget You. You know how easily I abandon You.

Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak and I need Your strength, that I may not fall so often.

Stay with me, Lord, for You are my life, and without You, I am without fervor.

Stay with me, Lord, for You are my light, and without You, I am in darkness.

Stay with me, Lord, to show me Your will.

Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear Your voice and follow You.

Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love You very much, and always be in Your company.

Stay with me, Lord, if You wish me to be faithful to You.

Stay with me, Lord, for as poor as my soul is, I wish it to be a place of consolation for You, a nest of Love.

Stay with me, Jesus, for it is getting late and the day is coming to a close, and life passes, death, judgement, eternity approaches. It is necessary to renew my strength, so that I will not stop along the way and for that, I need You. It is getting late and death approaches. I fear the darkness, the temptations, the dryness, the cross, the sorrows. O how I need You, my Jesus, in this night of exile!

Stay with me tonight, Jesus, in life with all its dangers, I need You.

Let me recognize You as Your disciples did at the breaking of bread, so that the Eucharistic Communion be the light which disperses the darkness, the force which sustains me, the unique joy of my heart.

Stay with me, Lord, because at the hour of my death, I want to remain united to You, if not by Communion, at least by grace and love.

Stay with me, Jesus, I do not ask for divine consolation, because I do not merit it, but, the gift of Your Presence, oh yes, I ask this of You!

Stay with me, Lord, for it is You alone I look for. Your Love, Your Grace, Your Will, Your Heart, Your Spirit, because I love You and ask no other reward but to love You more and more.

With a firm love, I will love You with all my heart while on earth and continue to love You perfectly during all eternity.

Amen

My new favorite prayer! I will put this alongside St. Padre Pio’s famous admonition: “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.” I try to remember this every day.

St Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, Pray for Us!

  6. Supertradmum says:

Pray, hope and don’t worry, is another great thought of his. He was so humble. St. Pio, watch over all of us, especially the Pope.

  7. The new English translation of the collect for today’s memorial of Saint Pius of Pietrelcina:

Almighty ever-living God, who, by a singular grace,
gave the Priest Saint Pius a share in the Cross of your Son
and, by means of his ministry, renewed the wonders of your mercy,
    grant that through his intercession
we may be united constantly to the sufferings of Christ,
and so brought happily to the glory of the resurrection.

Just reading the account in the UK Daily Mail online of the “terrorists” (IRA? ETA? TAMIL TIGERS?) who lined up 40 people at the Kenya mall, asked who was Muslim, made them prove it by naming old Mo’s mom, and shot the rest. All witnessed by an engineer who hid with his daughter under a car.

Was in bed all weekend ill and one of the movies I watched though hazy, feverish eyes was SCHINDLER’S LIST. The descriptions in the Daily Mail brought back scenes from that movie. Padre Pio’s prayer particularly apt. BUT NO MORE DIALOGUE PLEASE! First face the reality of who and what is at war with us.

I also LOVE this prayer and have often had tears whilst reciting it. I have copied it into a small notebook and recite it after each Holy Communion. It truly helps remind me of why I am thankful. ( I only wish that we could have quieter times post communion to be with Our Lord and tell Him how much we love and adore Him/ my husband tells me ” to offer it up ” when I complain about the incessant singing and lack of quiet. )
Thanks Father for sharing this prayer and for all you do.

    pax et bonum
