Wimple by Wimple in New Jersey

A few days ago I was in Florence and I saw things and places associated with Savonarola.  This, of course, reminded me of the smoke-scented glycerin soap made by the wonderful Summit Dominicans, the great “soap sisters”, called “Savonarola”… get it?  Lemme help… any French speakers out there who know something of the history of Florence?

They’re not on a bus.  They’re not in pants suits.  They’re in habits.

Not only. These marvelous Dominicans have now returned to the use of the wimple.

Here is a recent photo…

Summit WIMPLE

Help them build their new monastic building.  They are in desperate need of more space.

PS to women religious out there reading this:
They have vocations.

A providential juxtaposition of Soap with Absolvere, Absolution.

Soap has the properties of a SOLVEent, which releases or loosens particles of grease and dirt, dissolving them into a solution. The process by which this happens can be called ab-solution–the process of releasing from (ab).

Great news on the return of the wimple, which creates a clear distinction between postulants and novices. Nashville and Ann Arbor Dominicans…take note, please.
