There’s goes my reading schedule!
My copy in English of Robert Card. Sarah’s book, The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise, arrived today.
This is the translation of Le Force du Silence, hitherto only in French, is as I write available to PRE-ORDER in ENGLISH. It will be released on 15 April (Holy Saturday). A great Eastertide reading gift to yourselves or friends.
The original French, if you prefer…
And if you haven’t read it yet…
May I suggest that you give Card. Sarah’s books to your priests?
I’m about halfway through the French. I’m picking up speed as I go, now that I’m learning the French (I’m that crazy one who’s picking my way through it based on my knowledge of Latin and Italian), but it’s still slow going, because every page is full of nuggets that you can’t just zip through. The Cardinal gives the reader so much to ponder.
And I’ve totally got to keep cracking at it–my goal was to finish the book by April 14, so I can finish the book before everyone else can get the English. OK, so I’m a dork, but it’s motivating to keep learning that French and keep moving through the book. But there are only two weeks left!! Oy! :-)
Hit post too soon–forgot to add, this is a WONDERFUL book, y’all! You have to get it. You won’t regret it.
It’s funny (or not) when a Religious Order can produce both weird lib (Reese and Amerika) and orthodox (Ignatius Press) publications.
WooHoo! Oh, sorry. Not appropriate.
I am about to finish it (in spanish). It’s incredible! But it shows that Card. Sarah it’s a really powerful jedi of mystic, contemplation and mental prayer, while the rest (like me) are just padawains that are here to make the coffee and bring the pastries.
I have this on order and I too look forward to receiving my copy.
I am working my way slowly (because it is so spiritually dense) through the French for the second time, first time in paperback, now on my Kindle so I can highlight and save the best quotations. I have also ordered it in Spanish for my daughter and pre-ordered 3 copies in English. I cannot overemphasize how monumental, pertinent and profound this book is. Read it, and by all means get it for your priests and bishops…
