Your Good News – Mass for Benefactors

Do you have some good news to share with the readership?  Let’s hear it!  We need good news.

Here’s some good news for you.

I will celebrate Holy Mass for the intention of my benefactors, always, of course, including DY and GS, tomorrow, 14 August, Vigil of the Assumption.

Next, I have noticed an uptick in people registering to comment.  Sorry about the baroque registration method.  On the other hand, I don’t want it to be especially easy.  Since the new method was employed, my registration queue isn’t any longer jammed with garbage from Russia, Ukraine, etc.

Also, in the last couple weeks a few people have signed up for a new monthly donation.  I am grateful.  Thanks especially to FK, JC, CM, DB, TH, LK.   Also, I am extremely grateful for the ongoing support from all of you who donate, monthly and ad hoc.  And, although it has been dormant for a while now, those of you who in the past have sent items from my sidebar wishlists.   And thanks to all of you who use my Amazon search bar at the top of the right sidebar. These methods all brighten my day and help to keep my spirits up. Thanks!

I’m almost fully recovered from a pretty scary set of pulmonary events (pneumonia in one lung and embolisms in both) that sent me to the hospital for 9 days last month. The kindness and competence of the caregivers was a big boost to my spirits, and the prayers of friends surely aided my recovery. Thanks to Our Lord and the intercession of Our Lady, I’ll be around a while longer!

I’ve got vacation two weeks of scheduled for the fall. Cabin in the mountains by myself, away from cell phone service, no internet, etc. Can’t wait. :)

Anyone have book recommendations? I’m game for non-fiction or fiction and will have scads of reading time.

    Cafea Fruor,
Congratulations on your vacation and two weeks alone in the cabin. Sounds wonderful!
If you are interested in secular books, I highly recommend Steven Covey’s, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. That book/workbook changed my life.

My son, now a senior this year, whom I have homeschooled against some difficult odds at times, has composed a jazz piece which will be performed by a youth jazz orchestra this week.

  6. Nan says:

My little Byzantine parish had a visiting altar server from SPS on Sunday, who’s at a neighboring parish for the summer. He dressed for the Latin rite.

Tomorrow is the Vigil of the Dormition of Mary.

I asked St. Joseph for help on Friday and help came on Saturday.
A baby was born missing an essential organ and God worked a miracle and made the doctors scratch their heads in bewilderment.

And if I may Dear Cafea Fruor; if you haven’t read them, “Jesus King of Love,” by Father Matteo Crawley-Boevey and, “True Devotion to Mary,” by St. Louis de Montfort and, “Story of a Soul,” by St. Therese of Liseux are life changing spiritual works that you won’t regret reading.

Tomorrow (Aug 14) is my eight wedding anniversary!
